  3. Let ‘em all in every year. They did the work, they earned their place.

Here’s are my picks with the ones in bold also being my predictions.

    Beck
    Pat Benatar
    Kate Bush
    Duran Duran
    Judas Priest
    Rage Against The Machine

    Carly Simon

.:. Yeah, I don’t like most of these newbies. No offense, but Lionel Richie?

Pretty low level list this year. Aside from Priest I’d call most of these nominees a real stretch.

Glad too see Judas Priest on there. Otherwise...kind of a weak list.

    Here is my wish list.

    Motorhead
    Iron Maiden

It baffles me that these two weren't in years ago when they were first eligible.

    The Replacements
    Husker Du
    Pantera
    Soundgarden
    Pixies
    Jane's Addiction
    Alice in Chains
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Stone Temple Pilots

It seems extremely unlikely as none of the "Britpop" bands outside of maybe Oasis had much of an impact in America but I think the following are all deserving of a spot:

    Pulp
    Manic Street Preachers
    Blur
    Suede
    The Verve
    Oasis

Cam they put 8 nominees in?

There are good acts here, but this just feels like another safe, middle of the road ballot akin to the last couple of years prior to Jon Sykes becoming Chairman.

I'm not even going to waste my time on the "fan vote", but... I'd love to see the following all well-deserved and all past due for recognition...

    Pat Benatar
    Kate Bush
    Dionne Warwick
    Eurythmics
    Dolly Parton
    Carly Simon

Of all of the nominees, I feel that Pat deserves to be in there the most and SHOULD HAVE already been in!!!

    What is a Fela Kute?

Still no Dick Dale (the guy who invented surf guitar) nor Monkees? Oh well. And I love Dolly Parton, but she's country, not Rock LOL.

Still no Tull, Doobies, ELP, Maiden, King Crimson, Kansas....

Still a bad joke of an institution

So if I understand this correctly, Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie could be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame before the J Geils Band? Hmmmm??

I voted for Dolly Parton and Beck. Todd Rundgren is finally in the HOF, so for once I don't have to worry about voting for him over and over.

Every year I hold out hope that King Crimson will make this list. Every year I'm disappointed. With Genesis, Yes and Roxy Music inducted in recent years, I'd think KC would at least be nominated.

Going by last year, they inducted six artists in the performer category, so my six would be-

    Pat Benatar
    Devo
    Judas Priest
    A Tribe Called Quest
    MC5
    New York Dolls

Priest should have been inducted at least a decade ago so hopefully this will be the year that they finally get in. Presumably, it will be the “classic” lineup of Halford/Tipton/Downing/Hill/Holland that gets inducted. If so, if will Downing attend and perform with his old band mates? One can hope so.

I’d also like to see Beck, Devo, Kate Bush, MC5 and Rage Against The Machine inducted this time round.

    Beck deserves it

And he’ll get in because he has all the right connections in the business.

  21. It should be Fela Kuti, he’s usually just known as Fela. James Brown acolyte who created Afrobeat.

No obvious slam dunk nominees this year. Will be interesting to see who gets in.

It is pretty bad, when anyone of us here could put together a better list of nominees.
