Rob Zombie is Making a Munster Movie

"Rob Zombie has confirmed speculation that he will next direct a feature version of The Munsters. The musician/director confirmed the news on his personal Instagram page this afternoon, posting a logo for the film and saying, "Attention Boils and Ghouls! The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I've been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress!" Zombie has been trying to get this off the ground for years and years, and reports from Murphy's Multiverse and Bloody Disgusting as of late place Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips as playing Lily and Herman Munster in the film, with the cast also including Richard Brake, Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and Cassandra (Elvira) Peterson. "

Why would Munsters have an 'R' rating?

 

I love Rob's movies. If The Munsters is PG rated that would actually be new territory for him. Cautiously optimistic!

 

Who keeps giving him money?

 

I'm not in without Fred Gwynne.

 

He keeps his budgets low, so maybe he's financing his (non-Halloween) films himself.

 

No offense to Rob Zombie - or any of the actors - but he needs a stronger cast than what's he got here. Al Lewis has a tough cape to fill...

Jeez......the only one left from the original cast is Butch Patrick ........least he can do is give a cameo or something ..poor

He had a good cameo in a "Simpsons" episode!

 

Who asked for this? I didn't I grew watching reruns of show..

 

This is bad news.

 

I love horror/gore films, but Rob Zombie movies suck ass. IMO, of course.

 

What about the film "The Phantom Tollbooth"?

If Rob Zombie is doing it, then I wouldn’t be surprised if it got an NC-17.

 

Or they can just have a bonfire made of money.

 

If it’s Groucho Munster, I’m in.

 

It will be interesting to see what he does. He is so known for making such gory movies this will be a change. I think Tim Burton probably would do a better job though.

I guess Burton doing movies like that has been done to death. So who do you think could do a good job on a Munsters movie? Or should it not be done at all?

 

I saw it explained once why The Addams Family is better than The Munsters. The Munsters are a one-joke concept - they think they’re normal but they’re not. The Addams Family, on the other hand, knows that they’re not the norm, and they revel in it.

 

Sometimes loving an old show is not the same thing as "having the ability to make a new version of the show that's better, or even as good, as the original."
