The LoG fits exactly in there, especially as the tipping point that made him decide to jump start Crimson. As for the other ideas being floated, some of you here really need to get realistic. After Exposures, any other solo Fripp has extremely limited appeal, especially Soundscapes. Not everything has to be a box.
Aren't they in danger of losing copyright protection if they don't release it? 79-81 would only cover Frippertronics anyway. Soundscapes would have to wait for a later release.
No idea, but David Singleton is going to review the cost/benefit. Difficult to see a Soundscapes 28-disc box being next on the agenda. Ditto for Travis/Fripp. How many people would really want to buy those? With the current tour to "indirectly" promote Exposures, this will probably be the last one. (Tours tended to coincide with new box set issues.) Plus, let's refocus. This one hasn't even come out yet, and people are going OCD about possible but unlikely future sets!
It'd be cool if they'd include the 1979 Fripp & Eno stuff that's on the hopelessly out of print The Essential Fripp & Eno, and perhaps even the additional material from those sessions that was used on My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.
Just give a 5.1 mix, I have the LP from 79, the first CD the two CD set the recent double LP release. Sacred Songs and PG II too.
Nobody has mentioned the Fripp/Summers collaboration, League of Crafty Guitarists or The Robert Fripp String Quartet which IMO are better choice for inclusion than the whole Sounscapes series.
The Fripp/Summers were on A&M Records. Zero chance and there's probably not going to be anything post-1980.
I remember seeing the instrumental mix listed on the Fragile Bluray. I thought “why?” Then I listened to it, and loved it. Exactly as you say, details are revealed when the vocals are removed. Same with the XTC Blurays he did. There are a couple I actually prefer sans vocals
That’s exactly the reason I love instrumental versions so much. It adds a new dimension to music that I thought I knew inside and out.
IIRC Fripp occasionally promises forthcoming things that never materialize, appear a very long time later, or appear in a different form than originally mentioned. I'd have to go through old liner notes and essays to remember what they were, however.
Prise 2: Young Fripp: I saw RF playing Frippertronics in front of me at a radio station at midnight in Montreal around the time He was promoting the Exposure album. Here is the picture I took saying «Robert»...https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=UndjVnpjdTZfM25jTS1wTHZ3UzBnZVJXLWdvMlZR I want to post the picture directly here but I don't know. Someone can help ?
On the pic it is written Discomanie , which was a record Store on the corner of Ste-Catherine and Bleury , if I remember correctly, anyway, thanks for the pic. Edit: It is the pic name where it is written Discomanie. I did a view page info on the google page.
My sister saw him at Le Pretzel Enchainé in Montreal. the day after, you can found that show on DGM Robert Fripp, 19th of August 1979 at Le Pretzel En Chaine
On Robert and Toyah’s weekly video, Robert gave a few more details about the Exposure box: - It will be the biggest box DGM has ever produced. - There will be new mixes of the Exposure album including an Atmos mix by Steven Wilson. - Robert has been doing extensive interviews with Sid Smith for liner notes.
