Just heard in the last hour. Sad news. First saw Mork and Mindy back in the 70s, then saw him in Good Morning Vietnam and his terrific patter on that. Loved some of his straight roles, but especially in Good Will Hunting and the Dead Poets Society. Great films, sad loss, but many happy memories. Deepest condolences to his family.

I'm still shocked. It's starting to hit me how much I've enjoyed his work through my life. Ugh

Really sad about this. While I haven't seen him in much movies for the last 10 years or so, I remember as a child him being in almost everything and bigger than life. Flubber, Alladin, Bicentennial Man, Hook, Mrs. Doubtfire, lots of great movies for a kid and they always made me laugh. RIP Robin, you are at peace now.

There are no words. I am torn. I want to make jokes and riff like Robin would. I have at least ten minutes, maybe fifteen if I get inspired, but I don't want to. Too soon, too soon(Shut up Gilbert).

I want to stand on a desk. Captain, my Captain!

It's crazy but not necessarily surprising coming from Williams. He's been a pop culture symbol for my entire life so it's weird to think he won't be around. He's always projected instability though. I do agree with the family statement that the focus should be on Williams' accomplishments and not the way he died.

First film starring Robin Williams I watched was Popeye back in 1980.
He was simply superb, playing any kind of part.

Death by asphyxiation at 63 years old. Apparent suicide as his wife said he had been severely depressed this summer. Very sad. RIP Robin.

As someone with Depression, and who has been feeling down this past week. I am deeply saddened beyond words that he wasn't able to overcome the horrible sickness. Williams was and is one of the comedy greats, one of the few out of this world crazy types like Spike Milligan.

I still don't want this to be true

I never considered myself a fan of his, but his passing, particularly with all the speculation about recent depression, return to rehab, etc., made me quite sad. Perhaps because his work was about bringing joy to people, and you often don't think about how troubled he must have been. A friend caught him in an impromptu performance right after Belushi's death- apparently, R. Williams came into the venue (can't remember where it was, one of the local scenes at the time), and delivered a brilliant, off the cuff routine in commemoration of his friend. He is certainly owed that much by his friends.

I remember on his next to last show, Johnny Carson had only 2 guests, his favorite entertainers, Bette Midler and Robin Williams.
Robin's performance\ad lib on that show was as funny as any comedian I've ever seen.
You can take it easy now, Pal.
