Kanye is doing major damage to his brand/legacy with this current political shenanigans, but to imply he's some flash in the pan makes no sense.

Kanye's first album came out in 2004 - it went to #2. Every album since then has gone to #1.

He's always been highly regarded and has been enormously successful...

His reputation as a genius took a major hit earlier today when a camera caught him logging into his iPhone and revealed that his screen unlock password was "000000".

    I'm serious.

But me and my friends all love Chicago while we're largely ignorant about rap, ergo, everyone treasures Chicago while those rap acts toil in obscurity.

    The myopia is astonishing.

T.Rex only made it in the UK, right? I always thought of them as one hit wonders (Get It On) but among certain demographic they’re well regarded. They’re totally obscure where I live. I’ll have to check more about their music, influence, etc. Any album in particular for newbies?

I think he's lost his marbles, to be honest.

I seen def leppard on the return tour after he started playing with his feet

It was amazing to watch a drummer play with his feet and not miss a beat

    Absolutely stunning...they rocked :edthumbs:

Yes, the state of his mental health is alarming.

Btw, thanks for the album recommendation. It’s described as “the album that defined glam rock” so my expectations are high!

  12. Judging by the charts, Chicago would have a hard time getting arrested outside North America or Australia.

The Smiths and Depeche Mode have each been nominated twice. That's always a good sign as very few artists get in on first try.

Their biggest albums were definitely Electric Warrior and The Slider, though I'd recommend the "Ultimate Collection" as a good starting point for novices as it includes all of their major singles. I dig T. Rex a lot and think that they deserve induction, but unlike his peer/rival David Bowie, Marc Bolan wasn't nearly as multi-dimensional. He had one really awesome sound that he milked for all it was worth.

  15. Yeah right. Just sold 100 million records worldwide.
In a way, you may be right because they were a faceless band. They just let their music to speak for the band. They can actually shop wherever they like without getting mobbed.

Hmmm. They’ve sold somewhere around 40 million in the US (which is impressive). The only other places they have a gold or platinum record are Canada, where platinum is 80,000 shipped (not necessarily sold), and the U.K., where platinum is 300,000. They have no other certifications anywhere else in the world. So, where do you think the other, say...55 million in sales were?

  22. In the U.S. alone they have sold 43 million albums. The rest are for the rest of the world.

Everyone in the UK has 1 Chicago album...that's your other 55 million (and loose change) right there ;)

The coolest thing Cetera ever did was wear a Bauhaus shirt in the “You’re The Inspiration” music video.
