Actually fan vote right now is between Stevie Nicks and Def Leppard. J. Jackson is way behind.

Oh yes, I forgot they also included best selling artists. I was thinking about influence, but you’re right.

    Surprising..
But I guessed that Nicks and Leppard would do well in fan vote.

Oh I'm happy with the big tent, any look at my record collection will confirm that. I'd just put my energy into changing the name instead.

Looks like they gave up on them...

    Missed their chance.

Not sure about that one. "Recording Artists Hall of Fame", "Music Hall of Fame", "Hall of Good Stuff This Group of People Likes and They Don't Want to Hear Your Whining", "Hall of Recognition for Western Civilization Leaning Popular Music Forms, Non-Classical Division, Post 1950ish"?

You're right, might take some work.

Los Lobos is another great choice that was overlooked. Chic will probably never get in since they gave Nile Rogers the award for "Musical Excellence" (which means that Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson get nothing).

Perenially overlooked : Barry White and Joe Cocker

LOL @ Kraftwerk being nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Ralf Hutter would die of shame.

    Understand the frustration,
Carole King is in the HOF.
    Not as a performer however.
I think the HOF feels that’s adequate.
I disagree... but she is in the Hall.
I truly think that Zevon and Carly Simon will be nominated next few years.
I expected both this year....but..they will be nominated and inducted eventually....
    Also.
My understanding is that Wenner is not part of the nominating committee now.

it is not about hate, at least not for me. it is about talent and about rock and roll music and about putting in your time and effort and making your own music that will likely last forever.

putting the monkees in is like putting the archies, alvin & the chipmunks and the partridge family in. all were results of some TV executive somewhere who had a great idea and made it work.

and for the monkees making their own music, once they started doing that was when the sales started to decline, coincidence?

My solution would be to just put Michael Nesmith and the First National Band in. But that one ain't gonna happen.

    Right.
They took care of Chic with Rogers...
Los Lobos is an odd one.
    Nominated once, then forgotten...
    Don’t understand that.
Have to think they will nominate them again soon.
    White and Cocker always overlooked.
And with only 5 performers inducted per year, its appearing mighty slim for those 2.
Esp. If they place them in these increasingly competive 15 to 19 rosters.

Also he never had a top 40 song, or one that crossed over to a rock audience. (I can[t even name his best known song-- would it be "San Stone?") Prine's a fine artist who beat some serious challenges lately but even Loudon Wainwright and Jesse Winchester would be better known than him.

well, had he not been a monkee his talent probably would have taken him a long way.
