Apart from Whitney Houston (Who, chart success aside, has very little to do with rock and roll) I agree. Still too many ridiculous omissions though. At least Rundgren and Benatar are finally nominated.

Never liked Depeche Mode either, but I can sort of see that one more than Houston.

Both Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode being on the list i definitely think Kraftwerk needs to go in first based on seniority.

I’m at the point now that I don’t waste my breath arguing who is or isn’t rock and roll anymore. You’re always gonna get an RnB or a Hip Hop artist on these lists now and it’s pretty much going to be the norm. But I get what you’re saying. But still, I think it’s a very solid list this year.

Dave Matthews Band (?) but no Monkees or Paul Revere and the Raiders AGAIN!

    T. Rex is the only one I like much on the list and should be a no brainer. I could make a case for most of these getting in, despite them not being to my taste.

I just wonder if the groups that didn't make much of an impression in the US (Slade and The Jam especially) will ever get a shot? It's not called the "Rock n Roll that was popular in America Hall of Fame"

Also, The Smiths and The Replacements deserve to be in, even if they weren't huge commercially (although over the years, The Smiths have sold a lot of records in the US). New York Dolls too and of course many more that others have mentioned.

Gotta go with DMB, Priest, NIN, Thin Lizzy, Todd Rundgren.

Probably not who will make it but yeah. Kraftwerk were great innovators too.

I don't have a problem with anyone nominated, and I'm a big fan of more than 5, where it was not easy to choose who to vote for, but I went with:

    Todd Rundgren
    Judas Priest
    Motorhead
    Nine Inch Nails
    Doobie Brothers

Not for me. Last year's was better. The only two bands that I really care much about are T. Rex and Todd Rundgren, and even those are major favorites of mine. I don't really expect these lists to reflect my personal interests, but this seems like a fairly mediocre crop of names that have been put forward before without success.

    My opinions:

Pat Benatar - great singer with lots of hits. Still performing regularly. I like her a lot... probably has a good chance.

Dave Matthews Band - I can't stand this band but I appreciate their popularity over the years. I don't want them to get in but they have a shot.

Depeche Mode - They have a really good shot I think.

The Doobie Brothers - Eh.... not sure. I think there are definitely better options here.

    Whitney Houston - no way

Judas Priest - Yes! They should have been in a long time ago.

Kraftwerk - Uh... yes they were very influential. But not sure if that's going to get them in. I think Depeche Mode will steal some of their votes away.

MC5 - maybe. I think it's going to be hard though to rise above some of the better known options here.

Motörhead - They have a decent shot. Although the powers that be probably don't know much about them.

Nine Inch Nails - they will likely get in. The youngest of this group I think... it seems inevitable.

The Notorious B.I.G. - maybe. Certainly probably better known to the voting body than some of the options here.

Rufus ft Chaka Khan - no.

Todd Rundgren - yes absolutely. It's still amazing to me that ?uestlove didn't even know who he was until fairly recently. I think it's possible it's his time to get in though.

    T. Rex - YES YES YES. Everybody knows T. Rex songs either from the radio or from commercials and movies. It's about damn time.

Thin Lizzy - They deserve to get in. I'm pulling for them.

DMB is one of the biggest acts of the past 25 years, huge following, millions of albums sold, a unique sound ... deserving to get in.

Soundgarden should get in on Cornell alone, and that's not even considering the rest of the band!

AIC, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, STP are a few bands that deserve to be nominated, and soon.

Here’s my list of nominees, which probably means none of them will get in.

    5. MC5
    6. Motörhead

    I voted for:

    Pat Benatar

    Motorhead

    Notorious BIG

    Doobie Brothers

I voted for Benatar and the Doobies because of the "fame" aspect. You can't talk about 1970s rock or early 1980s rock without discussing the latter and the former, IMO, they were all over the radio.

I voted for Biggie and Motorhead as "godfather" figures. Biggie was commercially successful, but his career was tragically truncated, Motorhead wasn't, but is obviously very influential in heavy rock. None of the others is deserving, IMHO.

I suspect we'll get Whitney Houston, Dave Matthews, The Notorious BIG, Depeche Mode and a surprise.

I believe this induction ceremony will be the first broadcast live. Unfortunately it's about 25 years too late as the all star jams seem to have gone away and acts eligible get weaker with each passing year. I'm not a fan but how has Boston never been nominated? The debut alone should have them at least nominated.
