Regarding Rod Stewart's Greatest Hits compilation from the late 70's:

    Rod Stewart - Greatest Hits

Was there ever a second volume / follow-up release to this compilation that continues where it lead off? Thanks.

Downtown Train in 1990 was kind of a second Warner GH even though Tonight's The Night and Killing Of Georgie overlapped between the two, but it mainly covers all the MTV 80s hits

I did, but follow-up compilations aren't always labeled something simple like Greatest Hits Volume 2 (as they ought to be!). :)

Yeah, Elton was pretty easy to figure out the order of those first couple of Hits CDs. :)

“Greatest Hits Volume 2” is an oxymoron.

An artist isn't allowed to have more (great) hits after the first compilation comes out?

What an odd thing to say.

2001's Voice was a single disc reboot Greatest hits followed by Encore in 2003, which actually did have Volume 2 in the full title.(US releases..UK just got Story so far in 2001 - a double disc).

The Eagles did it and I actually like their Vol. 2 better than the first.

Yeah, I like both of those Eagles Greatest Hits volumes. James Taylor did the same thing.

No official GHV2 as far as I know. The original ‘pink’ GH is pretty flawless though. Great sounding Target CD too.

Surprised he strangled a first one out, personally. No idea about a second.

You're surprised a popular singer with plenty of hits had a GH album? I'm not. I mean, even if I don't like the singer's songs I'm never surprised that a GH album exists if I know they're really popular and have had years of mainstream success.

The sequencing of the two-disc MERCURY ANTHOLOGY, especially the first disc, is burned into my brain. Even the original albums sound wrong to me!

That’s a great compilation. Produced by Bill Levenson.

I picked up the Rodacious one's pink album today as a complement to the Mercury album set I picked up recently. This pretty much covers my 'sexy rod' fix and it has a great sounding mix of Maggie May to boot.
iTunes wanted to label it Vol 1, but the CD itself is not labeled as such...

I got the early Target CD for £2 from Music Magpie, of all places. Great sounding disc. It’s a perfect comp for people who only like a certain amount of Rod... It stops before the eighties where he went a bit haywire.

Early 90s Japanese version here for about the same price. WPCP-4557. Sounds great!
