I've read several negative comments about this compilation - is it that bad? I sure would like to have it, it has all the Rod I'll ever need - but this music deserves a really good presentation. Thoughts?

It was so bad that it put me off buying anything Suha Gur mastered. He redeemed himself with some of the Allman titles. Not sure what went wrong, but I hated it,

I bought it back when it came out and it sounded good to me, but I had nothing to compare it to at the time. It can't be that bad.

Try the Drake mastered US or German (they're different) Mercury versions, or the Mercury Anthology. They are much more pleasing to the ears. I'm not a slave to DR numbers, but those releases have an avg DR of 11 or 12. Reason is 8.

Didn’t our host once highly praise the Drake set?

I believe so, particularly the German releases that don't have added reverb. Dennis Drake did both, but they're slightly different masterings.
