If you're agree I’d like to go back to SODP album I find very interesting what Sathvyre says about "Phasing Issues" the album suffers from. if I understand correctly,This problem is audible in particular on the first two tracks ("And The Address" and "Hush") i would like to point out that I am referring to vinyl and not to CD. He claimed that the Odeon German Press 1969 has the problem, while Japan Press 1977 does not. Correct me If I'm wrong Since I have both versions,I would like someone to explain to me exactly where and in which channel. Thanks
What exactly is phase problem? Is it a delay between the signals coming from Left and Right Channel? Or we are talking about Phaser Effect?
Hi Guys I can't realize Where the phasey sound is!!Someone could help me? Would you please tell me Which version of SODP has Phasing issues? CD versions have or not? It's only a problem of some Vinyl Press? Thanks
On "Burn" - Deep Purple - I've LP UK-USA and Japan press the song "Burn" On Japanese press Bass are low level and High Mids and Highs are too much (Harsh) On UK press Bass are completely missing and HIGHS are much less emphasized On USA press again Bass Low level and Highs too harsh (similat to Japanese press) Why there's not a more balanced version of the song?
First of all, there are quite different UK pressings with quite different sound/mastering. Overall, I think the original German vinyl is the most balanced, with decent bass and not too bright/harsh. Overall, the recording is not the greatest. You can also try the recent (I think 2018) vinyl pressing (on purple vinyl). It sounds quite nice and similar to the original German pressing, and it also comes with a download in WAV format which is my preferred digital version.
So from my understanding the basic breakdown is for best early pressings is as follows: Mark 1 Deep Purple - Japan or UK first press should work (if Japan is too expensive, haven’t checked) Concerto - First UK? Which includes Child In Time and Wring That Neck. Does the US WB sound better? Mark II Deep Purple - First EMI for In Rock and Fireball. First US WB or Japan for the rest (not including DCC Gold) Mark III Deep Purple - First EMI (including Come Taste The Band? Or is US better for that one?)
Hi Guys, I've a questioni: When It comes to Made In Europe, Which CD version has the best Mastering?I'm looking for a versione with No compression with a Good bottom end..
Both Roland and Curbach in the past have said the UK EMI sounds great. I agree. I finally did get a Metal Blade (US WB), but I still haven't properly compared yet. Roland's favorite CD versions of Deep Purple albums Roland's favorite CD versions of Deep Purple albums
I have a Burn CD with the catalogue number CDP 7 92611 2 which doesn't seem to be on Discogs, wondered what year it was from and how does it compare to the 30th Anniversary remaster?
I cannot answer your second question, but I see two releases with this cat# on Discogs, one undated and one from 1989: Deep Purple - Burn Deep Purple - Burn
I repurchased In Rock 25th Anniversary edition the other day as it seemed to have disappeared from my collection and I wanted to have those bonus tracks again. Anyway, the Mew master always was problematic on this release, so I tried putting it through de-empasis (using xACT) to see if it would help... It worked pretty well! A lot easier than putting it in a DAW and trying to remaster it myself anyway. The bonus tracks are now more tolerable without the screechy highs.
Picked up this for a couple of bucks today. I think that's about enough "In Rock" for me. Deep Purple In Rock CD: Warner Bros. Records – 20P2-2603
For those who have the good Creative Sounds CD of Shades Of Deep Purple: Does your disc look like the first picture or the second?
The highly reviewed Shades edition is also available as part of this out of print compilation: Deep Purple - Deep Purple Collection
