I don't see why the refund option would go away. TM/Live Nation are probably hoping that there are a lot more people like you wanting to hold on to their tix for now (less $$$ for them to find). Once a new date is known, you would qualify for the standard refund policy. TM is just making refunds available now due to the special circumstances.

I think if I was well into my 70’s, like Clapton, Waters, The Who, Stones and many others, I wouldn’t even be thinking about touring again until there’s a vaccine for this virus. I mean, why take the risk? Do they need the applause that much? They surely can’t need the money.

Take the money. There is no tour this year, and maybe not next year. And if they do tour, the economy will be in such bad shape that you'll be able to get great tickets. Which brings me back to "There is no tour this year, and maybe not next year."

I was really asking for insight regarding Ticketmaster practices rather than advice. But thanks anyway for the grumpiness. :)

I’ll hold on to my pit seats just in case a miracle happens but I can’t see four guys in their mid 70’s taking the risk plus the window to reschedule is small, basically July, August and maybe September since they’re stadium shows.

The Stones deserve credit for making sure the refunds are happening.

I never saw refund links for Louisville or Nashville show up for me and I checked every couple of days. Oh well. Oddly enough, I was able to get a refund on the backup Louisville Lucky Dips, but not the main set of tickets.

Musically speaking this is a real tragedy. Of course that is outweighed by the real suffering of people losing loved ones from this.

Live shows perhaps, but for people like the Stones, McCartney and Dylan who are long in the tooth, it's just another impetus to focus on writing and recording new music rather than touring the old hits. It's a trade off—but not all negative.

We might see new McCartney or Stones singles (even full length records) much sooner now than otherwise would have if they'd been able to continue touring constantly.

A new DYLAN album I'm predicting was already in the works (my theory: A Murder Most Foul was released on its own when Bob decided not to include it on the upcoming LP) and hopefully is out late this year.

Mostly agree, but the logistics are easier to arrange by one-man operations than by a band whose members live in different countries and have other obligations. (Yes, it's a digital world - but it sucks.)

Yeah for a band that is spread out among multiple cities/countries, it's a logistical challenge to work on new material together, but it's less of a logistical challenge than a typical world tour is, so it's doable.

It's doable, sure, I agree. OTOH: "Hey, we're pushing 80. Let's work long and hard on making our 127th album and then watch it sell 5000 copies because we couldn't promote it on the road (and because our label has gone Covid-MIA)."

Once a Covid19 test is created, where the reliable results are collecting in an hour (and we are very close to having such a test,) there is no reason that a band of 5, which tests negative, (and their entourage of, say 15) can't hunker down in a studio and work together. Obviously live performances are out of the question. But putting 20 people who test negative in a recording space will be feasible in a month or so.

These guys are nearing 80 though. It's sad but there's no way I want the Stones to be in the same room until it becomes completely safe for them to do so. All it could take is someone to unknowingly pass the virus on to one of them, and all four could get infected.

There's been a lot of talk in Europe of easing the lockdown restrictions, and it seems like allowing over 70 year olds to socialise is one of the last things that will happen, sadly.

People will still be buying Christmas gifts this year. I don't think a holiday-time release is out of the question.

Take your bets now: Are the guys stuck together for a straight performance, or are they gonna have to pull off something pretty cool?

I suspect it will be via video; each of them in their respective homes (pre-recorded and sewn together to give the illusion they are doing it live on the spot). Mick posted a pic this week of him "rehearsing" now we know most likely for this event. He had an electric guitar. I bet they will play "Miss You."
