Not that it needs a hi-res format, but is the Mick Jagger interview on the SACD too, or is it just on the flexi?
The Japanese release includes the Flexi disc and sleeve as well although I’ve know idea what to do with it as it doesn’t look like it can be played, the Flexi disc telephone conversation is included on Disc 2 as well as sympathy but only available via the download card on the LP set.
You're quoting something that's directly from the FAQ that David Goodwin and I put together years ago. Something which is sadly out of date and has errors. As far as Beggars goes, no, it was not transferred by MFSL: s/t and Beggars have no mention of MFSL, they were likely issued too early for MFSL to have been involved, and they have a sonic signature that isn't present on any of the subsequent discs. MFSL *did* transfer Sympathy For The Devil and Street Fighting Man for Hot Rocks 2. Those transfers sound a bit better than the original Beggars Banquet CD, although nowhere near as good as the 2002 SACD. As far as tapes go, there's zero question. Besides the speed difference and additional hiss, the pre-2002 digital releases had reduced stereo separation due to the use of EQ'd LP production copies, as opposed to the first generation stereo masters.
The US version of the 50th anniversary has the 2 Sacds. So the Japanese sacd of the album is better sound quality than the US Sacd version?
That reviewer was wrong. Some of those West Germany original issue cds were mastered from the MOFI vinyl box tapes, but not all and not BB. I actually had two copies of that sucker and it does sound good..........until you pop in the 2002 Sacd and a/b them, then the WGerman issue just dies a quick death. Beave
BB is my favorite Stones album (followed by Sticky Fingers and then LIB and Exile in no particular order) so it's always easy for me to justify another one, digital or otherwise. Slightly off topic, I do wish I'd kept my CDN. copy, however, as I really liked how it sounded. I bought it about 1975 or 1976. Same for Satanic.
