    Fair point. But I was looking forward to this - hearing some genuine Exile outtakes in pristine sound quality.

    And is this approach really as common as you suggest? I know Bruce did this with one song on TRACKS because he didn't like the vocals for The Promise, but it's surely not the norm. What would the Dylan bootleg series have been like if he'd redone loads of the vocals? Petty's early Mudcrutch songs with 1990s Petty voicings? What would we make of Archives if Neil had retracked the vocals all over 40-year old songs?

    But, as you say, each to his own. I guess I will stick to my bootlegs.

    Thanks, Street Legal. I pulled this album out in January and relistened, and understood it much more than when I bought it in the 70's. I appreciate your thoughtful comments.
