1973 Japanese Promo with lyric sheet. Interesting as the album obviously didn't come with a lyric sheet in English speaking markets.
Nice find! I have a Japanese sample white label promo LP of Goats Head Soup, pretty sure it has an insert with the lyrics in English.
Thanks, does the black writing on the cassette indicate promo? Also how accurate is the transcript of the lyrics? I have a mid 1970s Japanese vinyl version of GHS but I cannot remember how accurate the lyrics were. A wise man would release a cassette of GHS for RSD. I have always thought RSD should be about fun type releases.
I have lots of Japanese cd's (mini lps) and certainly in the early days the translations were terrible.
If you feel the Japanese to English translations on cd's are lacking try pre 1973 on the vinyl format.
Cool! Yes I believe the black stamp indicates it is a promo. As for the lyrics--they are spot on, and definitely not translations from the english. They were almost certainly supplied by the Stones themselves to Warner Pioneer in Japan.
Interesting that he thought Keith was playing rhythm guitar on Winter but I guess I felt the same until I knew he didn't, but what really blew my mind is Kent's assertion that Dancing With Mr. D. is a better song than Sympathy For the Devil.
Yeah, for a long time I never even pictured Jagger playing guitar. But now that I'm familiar enough with his playing, Winter is obviously his rhythm work. But in 1973, how many examples would a listener even have of Mick on guitar?
Yes you got it but there are even funnier lines, I love the image of park (ing) tickets stuck to little trees!
For a set of lyrics really not related to what most hear on the recordings try Tell Mae Mama from Dylan's Writings and Drawings - maybe Bob's idea of fun! Thanks to all for posting the odd lyrics above. I have to confess I have never found it easy to work out what Mick is singing sometimes and still have no idea of the lyrics to one of my favourites Tumbling Dice.
The only line I ever got confused on in Tumbling Dice is where he says he's the "rank outsider" - I always thought he said "I'll be right outside" I don't know what a "rank outsider" is supposed to be. Is he the most senior outsider, or just an outsider that smells bad?
