Good catch. It's not in the still capture; you have to watch the video to see it.

And I love the heck out of what I'm hearing.

Mick is still a great performer and interpreter of songs, and is the MVP of Blue and Lonesome, no doubt. I just think his songwriting is bloodless nowadays.

Wandering Spirit was a GREAT album. Wish I could get the vinyl of it. And some of Goddess in the Doorway was great too. And his harp playing and singing on the last album and in this snippet is anything but ''bloodless." Compared to Macca's latest dribble I'll take Mick anyday.

Agreed -- that album also had a producer with the clout to really push him creatively, and it's telling that they never worked together afterward.

I do think it's promising that Keith supposedly turned up his nose at the invitation to play on studio versions of Mick's demos...hopefully we'll get something soulful.

The snippet sounds promising, I’ll say that.

I can't speak for his work in SuperHeavy (I didn't check that out) but his last original writing with the Stones would be those two new songs on Grrr in 2012. "One More Shot" was okay but I loved "Doom and Gloom." Mick's gonzo lyrics and performance paired perfectly with the riff. That track honestly excited me when it came out.

I agree that Wandering Spirit is his best solo album. The thing about Mick is that he is still capable of surprising me. I didn't expect "Back of My Hand" on A Bigger Bang but there it was and he played great. The best stuff on that album still sounds great today. I think he and Keith both still have some left in the tank and it's their partnership that really sells the band to me. I'd love something really collaborative that brings out the best in both of them. That's what made their classic records so great!

Forgot about Super Heavy. That had some great Mick stuff on it too. I made a Mick playlist in Spotify of just the solo stuff I liked, and there were a lot more songs than I imagined there would be, it's great to listen to. Also the bootleg of him with The Red Devils is awesome. And: I agree with all you say lol

Definitely not Charlie on the drums.
Maybe a demo for the Stones or a Solo project. Hopefully the former.

It’s not. Listen to the track in the background. That is Stones for sure.

It's not his style at all.
I've been mimicking his playing for years and it's nothing like his technique.
The way the high hat and snare tie together is a dead give away.
Definitely someone else, or maybe even a programmed loop.

I am guessing, at this point in their career, the new album will sound like a cross between I’m Not Signifying (R&B), Back Of My Hand (blues), You Don't Have To Mean It (reggae), You Win Again (country) and One More Shot (basic rock).

Hey, I might live long enough for one more Stones album. I'm pumped. Still the greatest band.

I think Kingsley’s just trying to say that .... although mick does a decent job with the harp (and better than many a “rocker” turned blues man) he is not in the same league as any of the Chicago blues giants of the past or even modern virtuosos like Kim Wilson, James Harman, Gary primitch , mark Hummel, r.j. Mischo, Dennis gruenling etc,...

Surely you might consider a carve-out for Charlie Musselwhite?

I'm expecting the new original Stones album to be like Crosseyed Heart- a low key, rootsy affair, touching on various styles with nary a synthesizer or drum loop in sight, thank you very much!

See, I don't think Mick would go for this. He likes it uptempo.
