Have a US COC 59100 'Rolling Stones Records' handwritten, AAA-1 ST/RS manufacture. With this and the old US DADC compact disc I'm happy with this title
Original German or UK A-3/B-3 with TML hand-scribed in the deadwax, or the original Monarch pressing, I have the AA on each side, but there are BB, CC, and FF cuts as well on the Monarch. Assume the AA was first? Or maybe they all were cut at the same time? Anyways, my Sonic pressing has quieter vinyl, but nowhere near the tone of the Monarch, which is just better sounding in almost every possible way.
The common consensus from what I've read on this forum is a first Monarch press. I have a first Presswell press and it sounds just fine. Listening to it right now actually.
I Have a "Sonic" with the Zipper still taped down and Gatefold is Sealed. It has only been Played 1-2 Times. If Memory Serves Me correctly, it sounds great!
I just picked up a second copy of the Sonic pressing to add to my collection. Amazing clarity and power! Still on the hunt to hear more Monarchs though. I only have a Monarch Rockerfeller (which slays as well).
Hi, don't want to open a new Sticky Fingers-thread, because my question is almost the same. Which is the best sounding pressing with a printed zipper? I don't want to damage other records in my shelf ;-)
I recently sourced VG + original Monarch and Sonic (serrated edge) copies..........the Monarch is the one....
Have spent so much on chasing the Holy Grail. Enough - Don’t really care about what they bring out next in terms of the album. Found peace, have the virgin records release playing as l type. Question however, why does this release/version sound so dammed good whilst some of the overs are unplayable?
There are some very recent RI pressings floating around. I found one at Best Buy. Look for the albums with the sticker Made In Netherlands. It is a very inexpensive but good sounding reissue. There is a more common Sticky Fingers LP in stores right now that says Made In France. That is an MPO pressing its ok but a bit noisy. The Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers (2018, Record Industry pressing, Vinyl)
I have a number of copies on vinyl and CD....the best by far to my ears is the SHM-SACD; I say that as a generally non-enthusiast of SHM's but the SACD's have also been remastered. Unless this album (in my top ten favorites of all time) ever gets a worthy remix, for best sound this CD is my go-to.
I owned a copy of the Monarch and didn’t see what the fuss was all about. I do own the German pressing that was cut at the Mastering Lab. That’s pretty good. I also have the EMI reissue from the late 1990s which sounds really good. I don’t know. Trying to find a really clean copy of this LP that checks all of the boxes is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It’s a lot easier to pop in the Virgin CD that was remastered by Bob Ludwig, and yes I do own the SHM SACD.
This almost makes no sense to me. While playing I Got The Blues he calls the MOFI the worst pressing overall but then lists it at number two. I have most of the copies he cites but I also have a seventies German pressing with actual zipper. I wish he had included that one; I think it may be my favorite sounding among what I've heard.
