So I caved - but that's 15 studio albums, 20 slabs of vinyl for £162.94 including postage - that's just £8.15 per record (£10.86 per album)...
I know just too good a deal to miss. I thought about it for a few minutes! For me as someone who doesn't have any of the albums after Some Girls this is a good deal.
If I read correctly these would all be Half-Speed Master™ pressings. Since the copy of Exile alone costs between 30-40GBP , this seems like an astonishing bargain.
Damn, $138 Shipping to US I have all of these albums but am still interested in this set at the right price. I just keep missing out or have other obligations when these price drops happen.
The only issue is that many of the titles/pressings in this set are plagued with non-fill to varying degrees.
It's the title in the box that is most frequently plagued with non-fill...sounds like ripping paper in various spots.
I picked up the box from HMV recently and have listened to most of the albums all the way through including the whole of Goats Head Soup. Absolutely no pressing problems whatsoever. Perfectly silent backgrounds too. No hint of any non-fill anywhere.
The temptation was too great, £147 delivered at the uDiscover store including 10% off if you sign up for their facebollocks messenger thingy. Anyhow to save you the trouble of that rigmarole the 10% code is UDMESSENGER.
Still available to order on the Stones site in the UK at Half price, not sure why it’s cheap on there site- The Rolling Stones: Studio Albums Vinyl Collection 1971 - 2016
I'm on the fence with this . Would you guys consider this a significant upgrade over the earlier vinyl box set ? How much so? Thanks.
It’s a big upgrade from the 2010 vinyl box, Especially sleeves and inserts, Sticky Fingers has real zipper , 2010 didn’t , Exile is like the original box set, nice details like that. Sound is great as well. Wouldn’t be on the fence too long for 155.00 if your interested, could be 325.00 again any day. Like the others it will go out of print in the end.
Yes agreed and just little things like Dirty Work having the red cellophane. Also it does not look at this time as though some of these albums will get a new stand alone vinyl release. I think GHS, B&B and others are unique in terms of being on new vinyl to this set. Also am I correct in thing this vinyl set has nowt to do with the 2009 cd mastering debacle (much hated at SHF)?
Yeah I liked that touch for Dirty Work in the red cello , I still haven’t opened mine. Don’t think this set had any to do with the 2009 mastering as some of the songs had added mixes like the outro on Time Waits For No one and there’s other tracks with bits added in there discussed in the past, think they where all newly remastered.
£155 plus £7 postage for 15 LPs (and 5 are doubles) what a deal and my box has just arrived. Can't wait to clean and then play.
