A fun and feel-good movie that I saw when it originally aired. 42 years later I still love it, though I wish that the quality was better.

I think I saw it in the mid 80s. Thought it was pretty good.

I enjoyed it when it came out. I was 14.... haven't seen it since.

The copy I've had for years was TV channel in Southern California viewing transferred to VHS (then transferred to DVD), complete with commercial breaks and news briefs (Shah of Iran was having bad trouble at the time). It was one of those lost 70s touchstones for me that I spent a long time tracking down ... only to be reminded that it was a pretty average TV movie?

Still, I'll watch it occasionally, as a reminder of the 70s, deep pit of the late 70s that sometimes feels like I dreamed it. I suspect Richard Linklater reviewed his copy (and Over the Edge) when pulling together Dazed and Confused. I can't tell you how much of the 70s, music and video, is like this for me: recognizably mediocre to bad, but because of the time and place in my life, I'll always have time for it. Even if I didn't go to the prom in shirtless tuxedo!

Great two-fer DVD would be this and Almost Summer, soundtrack by Celebration (featuring Mike Love) and starring what looked to be a 3o-year-old Bruno Kirby as a hustling high-school king maker.

As far as coming of age films about starting a band go, it’s no LINDA LINDA LINDA

I taped it off TV sometime in the first half of the 90s.
I liked and watched it several times over the years until I didn't have VHS.

If I'm ever in a band, we'll cover She Rolls.

I saw it in 1978 but haven't seen it since, though I do remember finding it pretty good. Charles Martin Smith is always worth watching.

Love it! I have been extolling the virtues of this movie for years. One of the best movies about being in a band ever.

The movie is kind of corny and goofy but there's just something about it. It's kind of beautiful in a way.

Mom: Your father and I...we've been worried that you're spending too much time with this little girl.
    George: Oh...mom.
Mom: The hours you spend with her...it's as if you were married (!)
George: Oh come one ,mom, give me a break. You use to think I was a homo, now you think I'm a nympho...I can't get a lousy break!
