Good song. But of the two he wrote with Jagger, I think he kept the wrong one for himself.

I'm thinking Jagger would have had the upper hand and would have been the one making the choice of which song would go to the Stones and which one Wood could keep. If so, it's not like Woody made the wrong choice.

Also, if other people recording cover versions is any kind of benchmark for the value of a song, then I Can Feel The Fire is the winner of the two, as I know of at least two covers of that, whereas I don't know (or can't think of) any covers of IORnR.

    Anyway, both are great tunes!

Good question. Ask over at iorr.org. I doubt you'll get a hard number, maybe some chart rankings or certifications.

It's believed that Mick Jagger had a hand in writing I Can Feel The Fire and received no credit as pay back for Wood's contribution to the song It's Only Rock n Roll.

But that one came much later. marcb was referring to the two that were written around the same time.

I don't know how well it sold, but the copy I bought around 1976 was a cutout.

I also bought my copy from the cutout bin about 5 months after it’s release. Great album, but it sold poorly. Had to be under 100,000 copies

According to Ronnie it's from that same era. When was his eldest child born? RW says they wrote it in the room awaiting the birth of his firstborn.

I don’t think it even broke the Billboard Top 200, although it did hit #27 on an NME chart.

    I love the album though.

Jesse Wood was born October 30 1976, long after Woody's first two solo albums were recorded and released.

Ronnie's not known for his sharp memory. I think that story is in THE WORKS (Bill German book).

Gatefold? My US copy is not a gatefold, and pretty sure it's a company inner sleeve.

poor ronnie much maligned by stones fans, obsessed by mick taylor, think that nobody could replace saint mick, but without ron wood they would have fallen apart years ago.

I'd be curious to know what it is that reminds you of a Marley tune (beyond the general reggae vibe), and which one. If you have some Bob Marley to listen to, it'd be good if you could get back to this thread with the info.

I believe the UK came with an insert...not sure about a gatefold.
Obviously The Stones liked the track listing idea...
