Saw this today in my local HMV priced £69.99 reduced from £129.99

Still at least £15 too expensive. Looking at the reviews on Amazon, it appears it was on sale at some point for £55. I wish I snagged that at the time.

Have you actually seen the package?
You will pass on this for a paltry £15, no wonder physical sales are dying when people want everything for the price of a handful of Mexican jumping beans....

I’ve held a sealed copy in my hands and to be fair it feels heavy and well made. But at the end of the day it’s 4 discs and a book. That equates to £50-60 for me.

dbPoweramp list tracks 2-10 on disc 1 ("The Album") as HDCD. Why not track 1? Anyone else experience this?

  5. Showing as HDCD track 1 on both Denon and Cambridge Audio machines. Is the whole box (sans the DVD) HDCD?

Any word on a similar reissue of FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

No only CD1 as it is just a copy of the 1999 remaster.

Thanks. Disc 1 is just a clone of the 1999 HDCD then. I have the 1999 as a jewel case and in the limited edition digi pack card sleeve. I guess the jewel case can go to the charity shop.

It's because physical sales are dying that we have this set. £50-60 got me most of their original CDs.

Yes but when? The debut album box was originally supposed to come out in 2012 as a fortieth anniversary thing! Ferry takes forever to approve stuff...

I guess there will be less material on this one and not surprised if they had already done a fair bit of the tape research and digitising aspect whilst making the first set. Maybe this one will be quicker.

I heard a rumor back when this box was first announced that Steven Wilson was also working on a surround mix of For Your Pleasure. I hope it’s true, that it’s included, and that it comes out in our lifetime.

Could this be the SW remixes perhaps? [IMG]

After record store day is it too much to hope for a release of this that isn’t vinyl?
It should have been in the overpriced box anyway...

My guess is that Ferry didn't like the SW remix enough to put it in the box set. In a way it's better it's released like this - a small pressing run for Steve Wilson fans.

See my post above: it is NOT the Steven Wilson stereo mix.

Oh god. Sorry - you're right! I just read the word remix on that rsd website and assumed it must be.

Reading your track list above it looks even worse than a Steve Wilson remix. But fortunately a lot more ignorable.

I love Roxy Music, especially the debut album, but this release is beyond pointless.

And unfortunately I'll buy it anyway if I can get my hands on it easy enough.

I’m up for surround mixes from Steven Wilson. But that’s not what this release is!
