I got into jazz by collecting all the Blue Note RVG reissues on cd (I know some audiophiles don't like the mastering on these, but whatever.. ) and at the time I was always looking forward to the next batch of reissues. The guy was a legend.

What a career, an incredible contribution to music. I always wanted to visit his studio in NJ... it would be like stepping into the Sistine Chapel.

    Rest In Peace Rudy.

Here's a not often seen picture of his parents' house in Hackensack, where his first living-room studio was (the part in the middle). This is where it all started:

Recommend you to watch it if not seen yet:

This one as well to immortalize Hackensack studio: THELONIOUS MONK - Hackensack 1965. First one documentary will change your way how you perceive jazz and its roots, soul and inspiration. Watching 1959 Year That Changed Jazz I almost cried ;-) This is true feeling of that time even I am too young and from different world region.

That's the Englewood Cliffs studio, right? Different location. That's the old studio in Hackensack in my photo, the building doesn't exist anymore.

I'm with you on that. I have over 40 RVG remasters and love every one of them. Some more than others of course.
