I believe it may have been mentioned by me and/or another poster in this thread, but am I the only one hearing lots of tape drop-out on Magee's remaster of A Farewell To Kings?
G Great, detailed review! For someone who does not have MP in any format, would the 7digital 192/24 for $14 be a good way to go? Thank you.
So strange. spent late last night reading through this thread and the previous one, and ended up ordering a bunch of these Rush reissues last night. Then today I get the news of Neil's death. I will be appreciating these even more now when playing them.
Pretty sure that ISN'T the one to get. MP MaGee remaster was released 192/24 for just a few days then pulled. Pretty sure that is the previous louder remaster. What you need to look for is 2015 release date. Edit...I guess I was wrong. Good luck.
As long as there are no watermarks...the qobuz ones seem to be clean. On Tidal the 2011 MP and an undated Power Windows are affected, the beginnings of Tom Sawyer and Mystic Rhythms are clearly butchered. The MQA Sector boxes and the 2015 ones seem to be unaffected.
There are a couple people here who claim the 2015 download of PW is indeed watermarked. Still sounds better than the loud Sector version.
quick question. are all these new reissues supposed to be 200G. I noticed some have a 180G sticker on them and noticed on Amazon they are advertised as 200G but again. the sticker says 180G. I'm a bit confused.
interesting. I ordered some from Acoustic sounds too- and re-checked the site. they were also advertised as 200g. No a biggie to me, was just curious if there were different pressings of the catalog during this release campaign.
really? that is interesting. Well I have some titles coming in today and this week. At least now I know where they are coming from depending on the weight. find it strange Amazon US is selling the European versions but advertising the 200g versions.
exactly. the two I got today were 200G, so go figure. Got a few more coming in tomorrow- so we'll see. At least they showed up in proper boxes.
Hello guys, Just trying to find which release is the way to go for the particular albums: Hemispheres, 2112 and Counterparts? I have Hemispheres AFZ 162 from Audio Fidelity, 2112 from MFSL and Counterparts as the CD from the box set. None of them are high resolution, but is it really a deal to go for the high resolution so called remasters of these 3 albums in your opinion? Thanks for help...
The best Hemispheres is the Audio Fidelity IMO, although the 2015 remaster is pretty close. For 2112 I would get the Hi-Res 2015 remaster if you can find it without watermarking. For Counterparts again the Audio Fidelity is the best I have heard but the 2015 remaster is close.
Thanks. I am trying to find these 2015 remasters in digital form on Qobuz/HDTracks etc, but not so easy - most of them seem to be 2013.
Has it been established that non-watermarked versions of the Mercury albums exist? I wish I could just exchange everything for non-watermarked files from HDTracks. That really pissed me off.
