    2CD only?

So no Glasgow Apollo 1980 in full

I guess we'll be getting St Louis 1980 broadcast, which fit onto 1CD
    Great concert anyway

If they are only using pre-existing radio broadcasts (that can fit on 1 CD) for these anniversary editions, it makes me wonder what we will get for the rest of the albums. That's assuming that the campaign actually continues after Moving Pictures. If they did do that, I guess Signals would have nothing but the original album then? Grace Under Pressure and Hold Your Fire would probably just include each of their respective live albums (possibly the video versions as well), while Power Windows would likely have an incomplete soundboard recording. Not saying that this is what will outright happen, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's how it went down.

Back to Permanent Waves. Even if the St. Louis broadcast is all that's being included, I will still buy the reissue just to have Sean Magee's remaster on CD. That's the main reason I bought Kings and Hemispheres anyway.

Earlier than expected. Worst kept secret ever. Look like we're getting St. Louis 1980 (again.)

In for the double CD anyway because the studio album will sound amazing.

Maybe some of the live stuff will be released later this year? Although it would make sense to release it with this

A standalone Glasgow 1980 and fans will be queueing outside the shops!

If this is it for PW, I wonder why they made a point of releasing the whole Hammersmith show for the AFTK 40th?

They did three shows in St. Louis, and recorded all of them. Surely there's enough to put together a complete set.

I've had a Dutch PW LP for longer than I can remember, and it sounds fantastic. Never felt the need to buy it again.

So I’m guessing we’re not going to get a multi channel surround version of Permanent Waves? That’s a bummer if true. I heard that the masters were damaged. Hope that’s not true either. If they don’t at least release the full version of St Louis show then that’ll be a disgrace IMO. Give us something new please.

Rush has never really gone in big for RSD, have they?

This last one with the Geddy Lee solo album is probably the biggest one so far.

So far they’ve released on RSD-
    Caravan/BU2B 7”
    Love/Rush 7 and 7 Is Mystery Single 7”
    Closer To The Heart/Madrigal 7”
Bob and Doug McKenzie 12 Days of Christmas/Take Off 7”
    The Garden 10” picture disc
Cygnus X-1 and Book II 12”
    Hemispheres Picture Disc
    Geddy Lee My Favorite Headache

I think that’s it unless I missed something.

Based on this interview with Alex from 2012, it sounds like the multitracks are lost to the mists of time, unfortunately.

Sadly no multis for Permanent Waves, I believe.
I love and have the album ... I can't see what the lure for this would be, for me

I would imagine Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace, Power Windows and Hold Your Fire have the multis, we already know the first two do. So I am probably holding out for those.... hopefully with another mixer aside from Chycki ... or a revitalized and inspired Chycki

I hope Steven Wilson gets back on board. Chycki botched Hemispheres pretty awful.

His mixes are ok .... but these albums deserve masterful.... ambient depth with a few nice immersions isn't good enough

  20. My favorite Rush record...all killer, no filler.

But I have the Sean MaGee hirez, and the Sean MaGee vinyl. From a SQ perspective I think I am good.

I was hoping for a blu ray in 5.1...If the masters are lost, I wonder if this is still possible?

I'm just assuming 5.1 without multitrack masters wouldn't make any sense. If anybody knows it's been done without multis, I'd love to know how.

You can have a digitally created surround mix, but it isn't the same.
If you had a n album of ten songs where the multis were missing for 3 or 4, it is probably worth doing.
The Hackett stuff is good, but Defector and Voyage of The Acolyte used the digital thing for the whole of both albums, and they just don't stand up as well ... ok, but disappointing.
Gentle Giant Octopus, had a couple of tracks missing multis, and they digitised those, and you can hear which tracks they are, to an extent, but on the whole the album works well.
I hope that makes sense. I can't think what the name of the thing is they use, but I'm full of the flu and a bit vague at the moment
