Geddy looks stoned in that picture.

Alex, with his personality, could have been fun for the gals. Neil is probably jonesing to get back to the van and finish his Ayn Rand book.

Rush ain’t lady killers. Never were. Still, I can’t see them being unpleasant to The Runaways. Their road crew? For more likely.

"Girls, blink twice if you're being held hostage....."

Neil - "I'm cool, check out my 'stach..."

Alex - "Cool, we're gonna score...."

Geddy - "Can we leave now?"

They were probably thinking "How much longer do we have to sit with these skanks?"

Whatever. Here's Geddy's take on the Runaways from 2013:

"The Runaways had a ginormous chip on their shoulders. I remember that show. We had trouble with our gear so our soundcheck got delayed and The Runaways never got one. But we were always good to whoever was opening for us. We had no bias against them because they were girls - none of that bullsh@t. I know they said that we were laughing at them when they played, but quite frankly they were too ****ty to listen to. And 40 years later they have a story to tell about it. Who knew?"

Seriously, if I didn't know that was Alex, I would have thought the Runaways were a foursome based on that picture.

I didn’t do the greatest job of relaying my message or point.

Definitely a big fan of your posts here. I’d never try and irk you on purpose; just trying to participate in a thread of two bands I like; swing and a miss.

Well, as we know, they were a quintet. It’s obvious Joan Jett is one of the three pictured. Lita Ford and Cherrie Currie are the other two? Nobody but Lita and Alex look that comfortable in that pic.

  11. She was 12 in that picture.

Not 12, but around 16 or 17? Yeah.

She was born in 1958. That pic is probably 74 or 75?

Rush toured with The Runaways in 1977 from what I can ascertain. She was probably 19 or 20 but looks much younger for sure.

    Very very amusing

I was a Dolls fanatic at the time & didn't care Rush and their ilk either so I can vividly picture this happening

I did not say Rush was a inferior band
I said they were not my cup of tea in the 70s
Although I was fond of 2112 & began enjoying their early 80s run of LPs

  24. From what I can find The Runaways played two shows with Rush in 1977: Wendler Arena - Saginaw, Michigan and Cobo Hall - Detroit, Feb 9 & 10. Assuming the photo was taken around that time then Joan and Lita would have been 18 and Cherie 17. Neil's moustache pretty much ensures that it's '76 or later rather than '74 or '75. Interestingly both bands were signed to Mercury Records and this photo could have been at a Mercury event rather than anything directly attached to their tours. It's quite possible that a Mercury exec set it up as a photo op.
