A gem on an album full of gems. Richie’s Child’s Claim To Fame is also excellent. Good Time Boy, which he wrote, is less great but I’ve grown to enjoy the exuberant performance from the Dewey and the band. They had chops!

For years I thought little of that song and the other Furay's track in Again, "A Child's Claim To Fame"; but eventually I learned to find the beauty of both songs.

With regard to his third contribution to Again, "Good Time Boy", I still think it's the less worthy song of the album, by a wide margin.

They're all great, but hard to beat "Kind Woman".

I love Buffalo Springfield. Everything by them. Kind Woman is my favourite ballad. They didn't do many. My favourite Richie Furay Buffalo Springfield song is Merry Go Round. In Buffalo Springfield I rate Furay as highly as Stills and not far behind Young. What an incredible three songwriters.

Yes, it's great. And it got a very unexpected cover in 1993 when the teenybopper group The Party put it on their final album, The Party's Over...Thanks For Coming.

The Party was a group that evolved out of the New Mickey Mouse Club. They had minor success with a few singles ("That's Why" and a cover of Dokken's "In My Dreams"). But they're now seen as a precursor to Britney, Justin and company. IMO their self-titled debut from 1990 is a teen-pop classic and much better than those acts, but I digress.

Among the members of The Party was a guy named Chase Hampton who sang (and sometimes wrote) the rock-ish songs of their repertoire. He took the lead vocal on their version of "Sad Memory" and doesn't do a bad job. I read somewhere that he was the one who brought this to the group. At the time this came out, it was good to know there were other Gen X-ers who were into Buffalo Springfield.

Love this track. I wish there could’ve been more from Buffalo Springfield. They were such a monster supergroup. At least they all went on to greatness and glory and we have the result of their legend in CSNY, Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Poco, Manassas, and so forth.

It is nice. When I was 13 I would have said Kind Woman was one of the best ballads ever. It always gave me those warm fuzzies. Nowadays I say Expecting to Fly.

Expecting To Fly is in a league of its own. On the scale of all recorded music. Listening to it in the right state of mind is liable to set a man free of this mortal coil.

Yeah, this song is brilliant. I might even suggest it’s hugely underrated, but I know people take offense to the over/under-rated suggestions.

You can't go wrong with a beautiful balled and those major seventh chords. The lyrics, melody and arrangement are all sublime.

I agree! I believe Richie wrote this before the Springfield were even formed.

I would love this song even if all i knew were the written lyrics.

    Sad Memory

Soft winds blow in the summer time
    Young lovers feel so free
Walkin' hand and hand down a shady lane
    What happen to me
    What happen to me

Did you ever love a girl
Who walked right out on you
You should know just how I feel and
    Why I'm so blue
    Why I'm so blue

How can I forget those nights
When she kiss me soft and true
And whispered words only lovers know ooh
    I love you
    I love you

Well I made up my mind
I'll find a new girl who love me tenderly
Forget the past I left behind now
    To sad memories
    To sad memories

Soft winds blow in the summer time

It's an ok song, enhanced by Richie's ultra-sincere performance, imo. But it's remarkable how the sound of it evokes a country lane in the summer. Stills' guitar solo on "On The Way Home " on 4 Way Street does that too.
