Bill Hader reminded me of Dan Akroyd. That guy that could do nearly any character and be funny with all of them.

Just saw the announcement on the season premiere. Adam Driver/Kanye West.

Well. I had a gut feeling Carrie Underwood was gonna turn down a third appearance on SNL -apparently another NBC show got a better deal. And after Twitter had that great campaign for the fans to predict who would host, SNL ignored the fans and went back to the same ol’ tried and true gallery of celebrities they think will work for the ratings. But we all have had enough of the same broken record played over and over.

This means we will pick up from where we left off last season with a show that currently has no momentum, no impact, etc. Which sums up what I have been saying for years...nothing beats the original five seasons.

I will not be surprised if Lady Gaga turns this season down too. Look for more controversy ahead this season.

P.S. Remember the past. Better than the present.

On a side note, we got to see an advance screening of the new documentary Love, Gilda.

What a talented and beautiful soul..

The writing truly sucks in a big way, on so many levels now.

And look now.... Chevy Chase gives his opinion on much the show sucks.

Chevy Chase is 74, sober and ready to work.

I would describe the 70's shows as lots of nuggets with with few turds here and there.

Now, it's a mountain of dung, with a few nuggets here and there.

Of the three still living, Chevy, Dan, & Bill... Bill is the only one I find funny now.

Well, good.....we wouldn't want someone like, say, Jason Isbell.

  9. Oh yeah, would be cool if they had Bill Murray hosting the opener.

Just read an article yesterday about Chevy. He wants to work but his reputation has pretty much killed his career. Apparently his is a first class jerk.

When you really think about how each episode is created and produced from conception to air, you really get the sense that they're pulling off the impossible each night.

I love these behind the scenes videos they're doing. I mean, costumes. Yeah they're funny and all but how hard can it be?

It's impossibly hard. What an amazing thing.

    10/6 - Awkwafina - Travis Scott
    10/13 - Seth Myers - Paul Simon

Have no idea who either person on 10/6 are.

Awkwafina is a multi hyphenate entertainer from New York who recently appeared in Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians.
Travis Scott is a Kardashian-adjacent rapper not named Kanye West, so he may be outside your wheelhouse.

  16. Just know that someone who names herself after a brand of bottled water can't be that good.

Also: Paul Simon? Come on.

  17. And that's the never-ending conundrum with SNL musical guests. They book a Paul Simon and people say "same old boring people, give me someone new and cutting edge. Then they book an Awkwafina and people say "who the hell is that?". (In this case, that includes me)

Awkwafina is the host. Travis Scott is the musical guest. That being said, Awkwafina sometimes raps, too. :)

I love the new opening montage visuals, but that font is really boring.

  22. So how is it so far? I just got in and ain't inclined to watch the back stretch, which I'll save for the repeat (which will surely be in about three weeks).

Opening was good. Monologue was fine. After that, only the taped sketches and WU have been really good. Don't watch Kanye's first performance.

At least my affiliate showed the last bumper while we heard the whole piano opening to the closing song, then cut out in the middle of Adam's goodbyes. Anyone else?
