Cool, sounds excellent. Looks like this will be on an upcoming Beck album that has no release date yet.

It's okay. I wanted to like it, and there's a song there, but there's TOO MUCH going on. Not sure whether that's Beck'f fault or Pharrell Williams, but I wish they have backed off a bit on all the repeating sound/vocal effects.

    From the above article
Though he didn’t give a release date for Hyperspace, Beck revealed that the album was almost finished. “It’s pretty much there. We’ve just got to put on the finishing touches and get it out there.”

Seems he said that with the last album and then a year later it was released!

He got the mainstream indie-pop album out of the way and now weird ol’ Beck returns. Hallelujah!

I especially enjoy the “popcorn” synth on the new track.

Yeah, got that too. Plus, they charged me tax on a digital good in the state of CA. Email sent.

Good point -- I just remember it did NOT come out very quickly from the first mention of it!

Finally got a reply from them. They said:

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with the audio quality provided, unfortunately digital items are final sale due.
I don't get the feeling they quite understand the issue.

Would be nice to have some physical singles (12", 7") for this album. While the multiple versions of the "Dreams" 12" were disappointing, I kept expecting that he'd push out a retail single for one of the other "Colors" tracks, but it never happened. Used to be fun hunting down all those records (many of which had great B-sides!).

Hopefully we can get a 45rpm version!! Like it and looking forward to it. Hopefully the mastering will be better than Colors.

Sounds like "One Foot In The Grave" (the song, not the album).

The first time I ever heard "one foot in the grave" was live. Beck introduced it as "ode to a dead cigarette", and I thought that was the name of the song until I finally bought "stereopathetic soul manure."

At least we got a different mastering on vinyl for Colors. The average DR values went from 4 on CD to 10 on LP. Big difference that even my ears can appreciate.

Yes, the 45rpm 2LP version is much better sounding. It's still a loud pop album, but not crushed.

I saw in another thread that the release date for "Hyperspace" is supposedly November 22, so an announcement should be coming soonish...
