Barney Miller and The West Wing are the two where I own the whole series. Both well worth it.

I have all the Star Trek series, Battlestar Gallactica the recent series, Fawlty Towers, SNL first 5 seasons.
I would also recommend Longmire, the Prisoner, Twilight Zone, The X-Files, Outer Limits, Perry Mason

Miami Vice: where I live, all the episodes were cut in order to fit them better into the programming. This was also done with The A Team, Magnum, etc. Unlike those series, however, MV was never completely dubbed in the uncut versions (RTL dubbed all those other shows in the late 90s, also bringing us german-speaking viewers the complete run of Cheers for the first time)so that the DVD box set available in Austria and Germany still features censored episodes with the original dubbing from the 80s. When I got the UK box, I was well aware that two or three short scenes were also censored for animal cruelty but other than that, the DVD box remains my only possibility to watch the show in its original form so buying this set was a must for me.

The version of Friends on Netflix and Blu-ray is the NBC broadcast versions. The DVDs had extra footage never broadcast.

For a long time it was super expensive and imposible to find. Now you can get the entire series inexpensively. Love that show. Especially Zev and Xev!

Now, take Star Trek; The Next Generation out of that answer, and that goes double for me. Oh, not that Picard's voyages aren't my favorite, that's a given. But it may not be everyone's cup of gagh. But anybody willing to pay top dollar to own a series they might not have fallen in love for without having it for free in the first place, has a right to expect a lil' sumpin'-sumpin'.

So, improved sound & visuals, extra context via interviews or discussion, and if at all possible, improved for more contemporary technology, or outtakes or (dare I expect) outside productions such as webisodes, fuller-length episodes or whatever else the showrunners might have produced at the time, with no place for it originally.

So yeah, give Trek the respect for showing the same for their fans. Any other program's enthusiast should be so lucky.

The Wonder Years. At last it's finally in a good professionally done box set. I had bootlegs for awhile but this is a series I like enough that I bought the official box set.

The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are also series I own (although I have Blu-ray, not DVD).

I don't recall there being any such scenes; what you got with the extra resolution was a beautiful reproduction of the image quality of the show.
