Mine is still going strong; purchased in December of 2007.

I have it in my office at home, currently paired with Pioneer BS-21 bookshelf speakers and SW-8 subwoofer. Nice little system for around $220.

...as Brad says, found this on sale at the local Radio Shack and finally picked one up. Very happy for $90...

Living way up in the hills outside Springfield, Oregon, the FM tuner performance suffers a bit. But I can live with it until I get a better antenna...

Again, having owned it for about 3 days, I am very happy with the features for the money.

    Thanks, Brad.

I have a Sherwood receiver I bought in '95 and it's still goin' strong, still using it every time I listen to music on my PC. Then, I have another Sherwood I bought about 6 years ago that I use for mixing. Guess I don't need a third one right now but that's a good buy for anyone needing a basic, solid receiver.

You're welcome. All you need for an antenna for this receiver is speaker wire in the right direction.

BTW, the price of this receiver at Radio Shack has raised to about $110, which is still a bargain for what you are getting.

Man - I wish I had a reason to buy this - what a steal! My trusty old Denon DRA-425R is still going strong though.

Reviews would seem to indicate that this particular model has a fairly significant number of complaints regarding flaky behavior and more than a few of the unit working well for a very brief time and then just crapping out

I would proceed with caution when considering a receiver offering all that this one does for so little money

And that's not meant in a "snob" way, just the reality that an almost guaranteed all IC architecture receiver, with all of these features and selling at this price point can't be a very solid piece of equipment build wise/attention to workmanship; I would be concerned over reliability as well (would I get my $100 bucks worth)
Then again, if the information is accurate, it claims a 2 Year Warranty, but we all know that sometimes that's not quite as good as it sounds (having it honored and making use of it if need be; with gear like this it usually involves shipping the dud back in exchange for another unit and you have to pay the shipping) I have had this happen to me with similarly priced equipment

Proceed with caution and an attitude of reality (as for expectations):

If you buy it at Radio Shack ask how many they have in stock in case you do have to make an exchange or return (so you don't get on the "mail it back" merry-go-round)

    Good luck!

Depending on the sales tax where you live, and the fact that Amazon has stellar customer service, even when you buy from one of the independent "store fronts" the Amazon way to buy it might prove the prudent one (if you you do have any issues)

Team the above setup with an Onkyo 7030 CD player and that would make excellent sounding system for less than $500.00

    That's great!
I was only passing on what the reviews said (in several places)
    From "verified" purchasers
Everyone was happy with it until it stopped working
I also DID NOT suggest he not buy it but only that it might be smart to purchase from a seller with which returns would not be a hassle in the event that he did have any problems
And who had enough inventory to make an exchange and avoid the "mail it to an authorized service center" BS
    You have the same model?
I posted the link; I don't think all of those people were making it up
Sounds like you're taking it personally, don't know why
My advice was more than reasonable

I doubt very much that the model being discussed was available 20 years ago

Glad your receiver has proven to be so reliable
