Why not Connie Francis then? Connie contributed and influenced young girls during the birth of r&r. Leslie Gore The Shangri-las
Not going to be one of those people who post, "who cares about the RnR HoF" but it's not extremely important, personally either. However, would really like to know why Pat Benatar doesn't receive consideration. They sure were hell bent on pushing The Runaways as some major influence. Then they put full force behind Joan Jett. Early 80's, Pat Benatar influenced fashion (pre-Madonna). Joan Jett did NOT. Pat Benatar's peak run lasted quite a bit longer too. So, separating out the "woman in rock" factor, there's something/someone keeping her out. So, it has to be ruffled feathers. Ditto for Cher.
I saw her last year and her voice is still great. Just her and Neil doing an acoustic show, it was great. He's a hell of a guitar player and with Pat singing their hits and a couple of new ones, it was a fun night. My wife really enjoyed it, she never heard Pat sing before.....I know, I know, how did that happen.
This is a troll thread for an organization that really doesn't matter. Aren't you tired of seeing Michael J.Fox and his wife, and the like, in their 3k seats over- reacting to artists you know they really don't listen to or were told to like? And obviously Cher should be in. Sonny deserves it more than her.
Decided to dig a little deeper: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snubs poll: Most deserving are The Moody Blues, Pat Benatar or …? 65. Pat Benatar This one pegged The Runaways ahead of Pat Benatar. Not buying it. The movie gave them a big jump, but they were hardly discussed, except to mention that Joan Jett used to be a member. The Bands Meanwhile, Cher will have to wait for Tina Turner to kick open the door.
I think it's time for a pop music hall of fame for stars like Madonna, Cher, etc. to be located in Vegas. They could include acts like The Beatles and The Stones so the hard-core pop fans can say "They're rock, not pop! They don't belong here!' That way we don't have to worry about Taylor Swift getting into the RRHOF. I'm only half serious with this.
cher yep. but first this diva its not a 'rock and roll' hof anymore that train left the station years ago. its just music
I don't care. Let her in. Don't let her in. She has a nice catalog of good songs, but she is only a singer.
Sure he was! Rap music grew out of Rock & Roll. Everything in there grew out of Rock & Roll. If you really want to keep the HOF Rock & Roll, take out everyone past 1960. This "it's not rock & roll" argument got old a long time ago.
Well if we're getting technical then, there should be no Rock and Roll HOF. Just a Blues one, a Country one and a Gospel one. Then just add everyone to all three....right? haha jkjk
yep, its just music. no reason the classics shouldnt be in: Bach, Beethoven, Wagner.....opera: maria callas needs her own wing
The whole thing's a TOTAL joke. Many non-rock and roll artists - ha, "artists"! - many non rock and roll people are in there. Where the hell is LINK WRAY?!?!?? Without him in, it's completely meaningless and WORTHLESS.
No. They'll put her in there anyway though. I guess being married to Gregg Allman gives her a bit of cred. For the record, I don't think Madonna should be in there either.
