Shout! Factory releasing first season of "Lou Grant"

The writers strike upset the trajectory of a lot of show that year...maybe worse than the tv-network-wide austerity push to reduce operating budgets. Remember that one year, when so many shows got thrown out, and there were vague promises of tv-movies to conclude them? (Yeah, riiight...)

 

Always loved Patrick Williams' show themes (Lou, Governor & JJ, okay, maybe not Newhart's all that much). Really clever opening, too.

Could have been really clever to advertise the DVD releases with the theme song, while producing a DVD, then it ending up laying on the bottom of a birdcage...
