What a loss. Truly one of the giants of '60s rock. And what a late career resurgence. Was lucky to see him in 2016 in NYC. Fantastic show. Simply lost for words.
I was just imagining the other day, CSN&Y putting aside everything and getting back together for a tour again. I guess I'll just have to keep that image in my mind and think about what could've been. Always one of my favorites. RIP David.
Croz was one of those guys who I thought was invincible and would always be around - kind of like Keith Richards. This one hurts. RIP
Oh wow. This hits harder than it might have. He was kind enough to come on my podcast in 2021. Oddly we discussed what dying well meant to him during the chat. I was more nervous than most interviews, given he’d walked off of another pod not too long before, but he was really good company. Really grateful I got the chance. Very sad news.
What a crap year so far. Can’t say I’m too shocked though. I feel fortunate that David gave us so many extra years when he could have been gone much, much sooner. His late career renaissance was another blessing. All that music in the past 10 years. He lived an amazing life, he created amazing art. He is/was a true American Treasure. God I’ll miss him. RIP David. On a personal note, I did get to see David live many times, solo and with C & S. One show was even front row and I got some great pics which I’ve been meaning to put in that concert pic thread for a few weeks. He was so amazing live. His voice was still angelic. I have a great shot of him looking at me when I said “you sound amazing David” That Croz smirk. I also got to interact with him many times back when I was on Twitter. He was so cool and accessible. A CSN signed lithograph hangs on the wall in front of me as I write this. In some weird way I know he’ll always be here, those songs. That mustache and smirk. That voice. Laughing. I really loved the guy and will miss him tremendously.
Sorry to hear this sad news, now that it's been confirmed. Not really a fan, but he made some good recordings.
This sucks. Another of my musical heroes is gone. I'm only happy that he produced such great music before passing on. I'll be playing a lot of it tonight in his honor. RIP David.
I read an interview last week up on Fremer's site where he said he sang mostly these days because he couldn't play the guitar very well. I found it very sad because I loved his singing voice but also his musicianship. RIP David Crosby.
