Here’s hoping the rest of the album is better than “Hurry On Home.”

    But I’m not optimistic... :sigh:

I think if their song performances were amped up and reflected those on The Woods with it being recorded like this "Hurry On Home" single (not like Fridmann's hot, in the red production) then I think we'd have a winning combination. This songwriting sucks though.

I like most of the latest Filthy Friends album better. This is just one song though.

Filthy Friends played in Dublin tonight. A very enjoyable gig.

Scott and Kurt did the support slot as a duo.

They played Boston last week, very good show. Dressy Bessy were the opener and Kurt sat in with them.

Can you fill us in on these faked butt images and the "irony" intended? I'm just not well informed I guess.

I can't say that I'm feeling the new song. :( It has none of the unhinged, psychotic sense of danger that I loved about SK. Without that edge, they're just another "rock" band.

These two posts nail it for me, unfortunately. I loved Carrie's vocals when they were a sly, sarcastic counterpoint to Corin's ferocious wailing (with the odd detour into something unexpectedly moving, like The Size Of Our Love), but all of that vocal fire seems to be gone now.

To my ears this new song wouldn't sound so out of place on No Cities to Love... If St. Vincent wasn't producing I still would have thought this song is continuing to explore sonic terrain first broached on No Cities to Love.

While I prefer Corin’s voice, I find carrie’s songs have great pop hooks, from Entertain to the stuff on Wild Flag.

even the poppier stuff on No Cities (A New Wave) still hit like thunder. I don't get anything like that here. Again, 1 song so I'm not holding it against them, but it definitely feels like a different vibe overall (including the promotional imagery).

Maybe I'm thinking to much about this.. but the lyrics - the desperate lets **** directness seems more in line with where St. Vincent has been going

The first single indicates you are right on the money. Don't understand the hate here. SK pushed boundaries with The Woods then went backward with their comeback record. This first single suggests they are pushing forward again and expanding their sound. You can't just play Dance Song 97 and Little Babies forever.

The Woods was a tough pill to swallow at first, but I came around and realized that underneath the ear-piercing production (and because of) it is astoundingly good and was an exciting new direction. The new single didn't reach out and grab me, but I'm still optimistic.

Sorry there’s no way Let’s Call it Love can be considered good.

Should have supplanted "Let's Call It Love" with "Everything" which might be their best-ever non-album B side.

I guess the pre-sale isn't too popular. I easily got Philadelphia and Hammerstein.

I guess not, I got great seats for Brooklyn an hour plus after the sale started.

I got a “premium” balcony seat for the Louisville show 2 hours after on sale. I’m so happy they are playing near me so I don’t have to run all over the country to see them like last time!
