I don't know about the veracity of the rest of your post, but this last paragraph is filled with inaccuracies. The Immediate era material is controlled by BMG in the UK not Universal. Kenny and (when he was alive) Mac were exceedingly happy with how things now are. The catalogue being extensively mined, and them being paid for it. And the chances that Charly are holding things back seems like wishful thinking.
1. BMG is now owned by Universal 2. Yes, Kenney and Mac are happy that they are at least getting paid royalties now, but Kenney has spoken in the past at his frustration with the arrangement as he reviewed the "Here Comes The Nice" boxset and had to tell UK fans that they wouldn't legally be able to obtain it officially. 3. Charly aren't holding things back, as such, but the people who own the tapes are holding them back. And it's the reason that Charly don't up their offer to purchase the tapes as they know that eventually Universal(BMG) will be able to free-load the recordings. *Apparently*, some mega-fans have offered Oldham and Calder more than what Charly offered for certain tapes, so I can't imagine that Charly's offer was particularly high.
1/ BMG is not owned by Universal - Sanctuary, which owns Immediate for the UK was owned by Universal for a short period before being sold to BMG 2/They were disappointed by a part of the deal that effected sales, which isn't quite the same as what your original post was saying - also see below this has now been sorted out. 3/ BMG are not able to free load the recordings, there is now an agreement in place where Charly manufacture and BMG act as UK distributor hence the Ogden's being available at a normal price in the UK, and the Ogden's supermarket run earlier in the year. As to mystery tapes and super-fans with mega money, it's the same stories you hear whenever there are 'missing' tapes. Dr Who fans obsessed over it for years. There never seems to be any proof though, and if they do exist and are willing to outspend a corporation, then there isn't much anyone can do about it. Judging from conversations that have been had regarding the Small Faces with Oldham, he's probably more likely to have started a nice bonfire with them, than hold them back.
This guy has some great Small Faces demo discs from the Immediate library that he's been selling on eBay
Different BMG company, the one that owns Sanctuary is a new company set up by the owners of the BMG that was sold to Sony, when their non-compete clause ended.
Sony BMG is just called Sony now, and BMG, which is a German media corporation once again has a music company which bought up a lot of rights in the last five years.
I'm familiar with Bertelsmann. I just thought that all their music interests had merged with Sony, and they were simply focused on other types of media now. Seems odd that they would divest themselves of a large music division, and then go about starting another one.
Times and priorities change I guess. Although Bertlesmann retained rights to 200 artists when they divested in 2008, so they never got fully out of music.
So, is this release dead in the water for yet another year, then? I notice that they're pointlessly re-releasing the 'Immediate Hits' compilation that was skimmed off the box set instead. "keeping interest alive" since 2014...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KZXJTJL Scroll down to the release date and it says 1st Feb 2019 - might be one of those fabled UK "yes we'll release our own version of this thank you very much even if it is four years later" versions.
I believe that it is coming packaged with Neil Young's Archives Vol. 2, so should be out any day now!
Nothing further about The Autumn Stone but this Beat Club performance has just been posted up on YouTube:
A colour version of Green Circles has been up on YouTube for some time now, but I don't think it's been in this quality before.
Superb quality. 1967 I'd presume? Reportedly the first moment that West German television broadcast in colour in 1967 it was with the Small Faces. I wonder if this was the very footage.
I keep checking various places for news, one being Charly Records' website. The site has been carrying the same headline for months (years?): 'The new Charly website and online store with exclusive releases is coming soon.' Just about the only thing you can do on the site is 'contact Charly', which will direct you to the email address '[email protected]'. I contacted Charly and got no reply. Yes, I know, I'm not saying much new here; just keeping the pot boiling.
Mr Caiger has come in for a bit of stick in these pages for raising hopes about this release on several occasions. I’ve pretty much given up hope on this ever appearing. If it does it’ll be a nice surprise.
I have to apologize to you guys. I was one of the ones saying to you all to just relax don’t be so needy, it will come. A few of you seemed over the top with your negativity that there was a history of bait and tease. You were so correct on this. I’ve never seen anything like this. I am into jazz music and there are some interesting releases ongoing with Blue Note and they are so professional over there. We get the same little exciting teases of info from the label but along with that they do say real info will be out in 2 weeks or 3 weeks and it always is. This Autumn Stone situation is appalling.
