I just started listening to Chicago's albums two weeks ago and I already love their work.
Got the Studio Albums 1969-1978 box set and think I enjoy Chicago III the most.
Recently got the Steven Wilson Remix of Chicago II and even this sounds amazing! Just can agree all albums with Terry Kath on it are must-haves for Rock fans.
I'll receive US first pressings of the first two (double) albums next week. Amazing journey to start a new year.

Chicago III is my favorite as well. I'd never argue that it's their best, but it's definitely my favorite. I also really love Chicago VIII too.

  3. Me too. I'm blown away with the quality of this release.

I was surprised that 'Progress' includes a toilet flushing. Funny gimmick, and one of many reasons why I love this (double) album!^^

Pretty expensive to get the Carnegie Hall 4 CD box these days. Hope there's a reissue of it going on soon.

I've been in the process, during my recent infatuation and reassessment of this underrated band, in acquiring either new or clean original vinyl copies of every album. I just purchased this remix of II and am very excited to play it.

I contemplated getting the Friday Music version of VII, just to have a new copy of what is one of my favorite albums, but ended up getting a NM original at a decent price. I played it last night and it sounded great. I look forward to opening II next!

Yes, if any Chicago vinyl (or deluxe CD package) deserves a new and more widely released version, it's IV.

I actually doubt we'll see another CD based set since Rhino already did one once, and the market for CD sets might not be the greatest anymore. I figure if we do see another reissue, it might be the vinyl.

Or high res audio at least. I'll take a look at older vinyl versions of the album soon.

The only vinyl versions of IV I ever managed to find were totally beaten up and/or missing the booklet, the poster, one of the discs or all of the above. Hopefully it gets the Steven Wilson treatment on a Vinyl reissue reimagining an original pressing, including said booklet and all that bonus stuff... oh well, as long as I still can dream ;)

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

It should be noted that David "Hawk" Wolinski wrote, or co-wrote "Street Player", and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan recorded and released it first for their "Street Player" album. At the time, he had become a member of Rufus. Wolinski was also working with Chicago at the same time, thus how Chicago came to also record it.

While I agree with how all of the albums with Terry Kath, and produced by James William Guercio were the best, I think a case can be made for "Hot Streets" and "17".

That would be great to see. Hopefully it will happen one day. Maybe if vinyl continues to grow for a little while, the band will ultimately do a few boxes containing their entire discography or something (up through 18 or 19). Although I'd actually be happy to just see individual vinyl releases of every album (by Rhino, Steven Wilson, or any quality issue). I know that some of the albums have already been replicated and reissued, but it would be nice if they were all done, at the same time, under the same umbrella. As you said, we can always dream I guess... :)

Few months ago there was some hint of the band releasing more live recordings as part of their 50th Anniversary this year. Maybe a good time to re-release the Carnegie Hall box again.

This is the thread I found about it:
Chicago - 50th Anniversary box set of previously unreleased live recordings?

Yes, a great city and a great underrated and faceless rock supergroup from the late 60's and the 70's.

Chicago VI promotional poster - c1973. Chicago VI topped the album charts for 6 weeks.
They were not called America's premier rock and roll bands from 1969-1977 for nothing.

"Feelin' Stronger Every Day" was the first single released from the No. 1 album Chicago VI. It reached the top 10 peaking at #10 for two weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. It eventually became the 54th most popular songs of the year 1973 in the USA in terms of sale and radio airplay out of thousands of singles released that year.[IMG]
