The Moody Blues used to do this on their earlier LPs: House of Four Doors, Have You Heard, and Eyes of a Child. In the first two cases, the two parts were musically similar, but in the last, they weren't.

Just remembered that Dylan's Hurricane was broken up into two sides of a 45.

One of my favorites. Part II on the flip side is mostly producer Greg Perry exploring the bass riff that the song is built on in all kinds of wonderfully creative instrumental variations... because it is, quite simply, a great bass riff. After 50 years I'm not even close to being tired of it.
Billboard did list the A-side on the charts with the full title of "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show (Part I)". It peaked at #15.

Probably more than a few disco 45s were divvied up this way, such as "Love Machine" by the Miracles from 1975-76.

Another 2-part disco single, this one by the O'Jays on Philadelphia International, 1976.
They also did this with several 45s by Harold Melvin & the Blues Notes.

    Yeah, good call.
I don't think the XXX mix has been commercially released, just a promo.
