Not to mention "Bohemian Rhapsody," which was the first to come to my mind.

That reminds me...thanks Steve! Last night, I thoroughly enjoyed this song (along with the rest of the Vintage Music Collectors Series, Vol. 7 & 8). I have the first 3 CD's on order!

Actually, the first track from Costello's first three albums all start with vocals first -- Welcome to the Working Week, No Action and Accidents Will Happen. I know all three of these songs have been pointed out individually in this thread, but it was odd to me that the first thing you heard on each of those albums was his voice without accompaniment. I asked him about it the first time I interviewed him - was it on purpose? He sighed and told me I was way overthinking things.

    Gimme Little Sign- Brenton Wood
    Fire- Arthur Brown
The Look of Love- Dusty Springfield... barely
First Train To California- Cryan Shames
    Ringo- Lorne Greene (well....)
    It's A Beautiful Morning- Rascals

and that obscure song I can't quite place about a kid being born and living and growing old and dying... something that keeps repeating something about a steeple. I think that one started with just voices.

Did we all decide that counting 1-2-3-4 works like on Wooly Bully? And stuff like "what number is this Chip". Or not? I vote not. Except for maybe Sun of A Gun on You're So Vain. Or maybe I'm just remembering how much I liked the album cover.

I love songs that start with great acapella multi voice vocal like Beatles Nowhere Man, Paperback Writer and Eleanor Rigby. Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son
