And yet another one by John Hiatt:

    John Hiatt - Cherry Red

From his album "Same Old Man", released on New West Records in 2008.

"It was cherry red, with the custom flames
At the hot rod show, when the Kingsmen came
And that bass guitar, it rattled my frame
    And it shook you too
That Corvette was Big Daddy Roth's design
Get your picture for a dollar and have it signed"

That was where I was going. It was always a treat. I think One For Woody was the last time I heard it live.

George Hamilton IV - West Texas Highway

A song written by Michael Martin Murphey and Boomer Castleman.
First recorded by George Hamilton IV and released as a single on RCA Victor in 1971.
Lyle Lovett did a great cover version of the song for his 1998 album "Step Inside this House".

    "Now, I'm mighty glad
That you was a-going down my way
In your brand new clothes there
    And your great big Chevrolet
Cause I'm going down to Haskell
Got a woman down in Abilene"

    Country singer from Beaumont/Texas.
"'57 Chevrolet" is a track from her album "Lonely Hearts Club", released in 1978 on United Artists Records.

"They don't make cars like they used to
I wish we still had it today
The love we first tasted, the good love we're still living
We owe it to that old '57 Chevrolet"

Somebody mentioned this one briefly on a previous page, but I think Jim Croce's "Rapid Roy (That Stock Car Boy)" from 1972 deserves a lot more attention, since the car is the racing man's "easy money in the bank."

He got a tattoo on his arm that say 'Baby' / He got another one that just say 'Hey'
But every Sunday afternoon he is a dirt track demon in a '57 Chevrolet

Still miss this great singer/songwriter. Maury too.

Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash: "1970 Monte Carlo"

I pour myself behind to wheel
Too tired to think and too numb to feel
And hear that 350 whining low
All I need is an open road and some
    Johnny Cash on the stereo
And things ain't as bad as they seem
    1970 Monte Carlo Chevrolet
I swear sometimes you were my only friend
With a headliner ripped and torn
Just like me she's a little worn
But you could always see me home again

    "Chevy runnin', Chevy hummin'
Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah"
