This morning David Bowie’s China Girl popped up when I had my phone playing on shuffle and I noticed how fast it actually is, much faster than the mood kinda allows it to be.

Any more examples you can think of?

I've found as I've gotten older, tempos of everything I listened to as a kid seem so much faster than I thought at the time.

I used to think "Teenarama" by the Records was slow-ish, because "Starry Eyes" is so fast. Now, "Teenarama" sounds like a mid/uptempo tune.

It’s just this contradiction with China Girl that’s so striking and makes it one of a kind. There’s a passionate delivery that’s carried by the music, but the arrangement really speeds by, much more so than the comparatively plodding Let’s Dance, which seems much more upbeat.
Another charactaristic of China Girl is that it barely relies on it’s chorus (Actually, I would call ‘Oh oh oh...’ a hook rather than a chorus). It doesn’t stay in one place, like someone exploring a house from room to room. We can thank Iggy for that.
    Good stuff!

I think Coldplay's 'Yellow' is both slow and fast.^^
