Also, I see no soundtrack listings for the 2003 film Beethoven's 5th because IMDB is blocked by pop-ups now. Soundtracks.net does list a refence to one "Adam Berry", but since Mr. Ludwig Van's works are in the Public Domain, nobody's properly documenting whether the studio licensed his works...or, if the legendary composer was an avid film buff.

Out of the Blue comes from the same Lennon album as One Day (At A Time) too. ;)

Robert Johnson's Crossroads bears no similarity to the much maligned and long running UK serial of the same name.

Or the Britney Spears movie, but it does clearly influence the Ralph Macchio movie!

This is one of those where it becomes tough to judge eligibility for the thread.

On one hand, there's no real connection between the 2, but on the other, I think there's a zero percent chance Bowie didn't know of the play/movie and steal the title for his song.

That technically makes it ineligible for the thread, as I don't think it's a coincidence both have the same title.

Same for Bowie's "Somebody Up There Likes Me".

But it's tough to "prove" either way...

    (maybe others)

Most, if not every, song title on the Hazzard Hotrods album Big Trouble is also the name of a movie (makes sense, cuz the album was recorded in a video store [remember those?]). For example, "39 Steps," "A Farewell to Arms," "The Lawless 90's," and "Tit for Tat."

    Wait - HOLD IT!

TWO films I mentioned entiled Out Of The Blue were posted in reference to neither of them being connected to the Debbie Gibson song of the same name I mentioned. TWICE I get responses, one from THE OP, complimenting me for not mentioning the Lennon ballad, the other from another member, just bringing up the suggestion that there is a song by Lennon of that title...yet, neither of these songs are related in any way, to either of the films I brought out, which triggered the responses. Yet, when Colocally does it, the OP tells him it doesn't qualify...but, by his own criteria, it does. The Lennon song has absolutely nothing to do with inspiration, plot, or licensing for either film I mentioned, which received responses about the Lennon song.

    I smell a rat (terrier)...

Wait, it gets better...because I look up "Out Of The Blue" on Wikipedia (admittedly, not the "disambiguation" listing)...the Lennon song doesn't even come up! Just references to songs from (deep breath):
    Debbie Gibson
    Delta Goodrem
    Neil Young
    Alan Parson
    Aly & AJ
    The Band
    David Gilmore
    George Harrison
    Julian Casablancas
    Michael Learns To Rock
    Robert Wyatt
    Roxy Music
    System In Blue
    Tommy James & The Shondells
    Toyah
    Wreckless Eric
    Hubert Bath
    Elton John
...as well as albums by, (second deep breath):
    Blue Mitchell
    Sonny Red
    Blue Swede
    ELO
    Anne Kirkpatrick
    Donnie Iris
the London Cast of West End Musical
    Alison Brown
    Miles Davis
    System F
    Claudio Carawan
    Blue Raspberry
Systems In Blue (plural this time)
as well as the aforementioned Debbie Gibson

...and again, no mention of John Lennon (albeit, he does come up as first entry on the actual "disambiguation" page)

What I'm trying to get at is...I know this is the Hoffman Board and all, so it's practically mandatory, but...
COULD WE PLEASE AT LEAST TRY TO REFRAIN FROM BRINGING UP BEATLES...WHEN WE'RE NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE BEATLES...?!

So the Beatles gantlet has been thrown down!

OK…"Run for Your Life" (late 1965 Beatles song and roughly contemporaneous TV series starring Ben Gazzara).
