"Jesus Is Just Alright" by the Doobies and "Do It Again" by Steely Dan feature bongos. I guess the 70s were a great time for bongos. A real great time. For bongos.

I think I just like typing "bongos".

    Jamiroquai - Use The Force

This song is built on a great percussion base including bongos.

I think that's correct. Bongos kindas faded out of view during the 80s, when percussion sounds became more electronic. But there was lots of them in the 70s. Santana and Traffic may be the most Obvious candidates, but I also remember lots of 70s disco and funk having bongo parts, especially on longer tracks that had a break in the middle part. Though more often conga's were used for this.

This one has it all: congas, bongos, timpales and it sounds like there's several drummers drumming during the break:

The 1940's-era jazz tune "Tin Tin Deo", featuring Chano Pozo slapping the bongos.
Poor Chano was fatally shot in a bar over a bad dope deal.
Great tune. Ignore the cheesy James Bond visuals in the video.

On Dylan's Love and Theft, Clay Meyers plays bongos on "Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum" & "Honest With Me."

Clay is the son of legendary Vox organist Augie Meyers (Sir Douglas Quintet, Texas Tornados), who also appears on L&T.

Speaking of bodacious bongos, the tracklist for the first Inside Deep Note porn soundtrack comp shows #29 as "Bodacious Bongos."

Since I haven't actually heard it, I can't say whether it's with bongos, about bongos...or both...

  25. Not sure if it was mentioned earlier, but Steve Miller released "Bongo Bongo" as a 45 from the Italian X-Rays album, surely one of the biggest what-was-he-thinking moments of his career.
