    Bill Fay - Gentle Willie

    English singer, pianist and songwriter.
He released the two albums "Bill Fay" and "Time of the Last Persecution" in 1970 and 1971, both on the Deram label.
After a 30+ years hiatus his late 1970s recordings were released in 2005 entitled "Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow".
Next was the compilation album "Still Some Light", a double CD containing a mix of older material and newer, home-recorded songs; released in 2010.
"Life is People", his his first new studio album in over 40 years, saw release on the Dead Oceans label in 2012. This was followed by another album ("Who Is the Sender") in 2015, once again on Dead Oceans.

"Gentle Willie" is the opening track of the B-side of his first album.

    "Willie was a sailor
    He sailed on the sea
And Willie said a sailor's life
    Is the life for me
But they sent him into battle
For to lay down his life
And Willie said a sailor's life is not for me"
