Ah! Thanks for reminding me. The outro of "Someday" is grand but unfortunately snipped.
Would have loved for Jerry Miller to go farther along for a few minutes.

One that slays me is the outro to "The Chieftain" on Midge Ure's album "The Gift." The instrumental fades out except for sibilant drum machine rhythm and Level 42's Mark King going nuts on a bass solo that just doesn't quit! I had to wonder how much longer he was soloing on that take as he was certainly on fire.

    Yes.
The review in Rolling Stone nailed it perfectly - it doesn't fade out, it fades up.

So unlike the rest of this brilliant album A SALTY DOG, yet perfect.

I've always loved the end section of "Robert's Box" by PH as well. First section is give or take for me but the chord progression in the outro is just epic.

Short but sweet: "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" by Buddy Holly. It unintentionally echoes the abrupt end of his young life.

Roxy Music's 'Psalm'. Overall a stunning track, but when the men's choir kicks in, it just... well, I can't explain.

Maybe people don't think of this as an outro, but...

The last minute of “Back Seat of My Car” on RAM is the best thing on the album and a great outro!

That’s a great one, always brings me back to being a kid at that time, and I didn’t even listen to rock at that time! Must have been playing in video game arcades or supermarkets, but it makes me feel like it’s 1979 for some reason

Yeah that fade out with all those spooky synthesizers buzzing away, great way to end the album:edthumbs:

    2 for 1

Steely Dan, FM (No Static At All) both versions, the sax outro and the guitar outro, though I like the guitar ending more. Like riding on a magic carpet
