    I like it.

The groove Michael DeRosier performed on Barracuda is exceptional, IMO. I love the way the beat pushes and plays right through the break section when the guitar sustains the harmonics. It keeps the song intense. Good stuff.

Rosanna is a classic Jeff Porcaro groove. I can listen to that style for eternity. Heh

That 4 count bass drum at the beginning is one of my favorite drum intros ever, sorry I forgot to list it.

"Go Your Own Way" Mick Fleetwood absolutely kills it on this track!

Also, the last 40 seconds of "5:15" from The Who's Quadrophenia -- after blasting their way through the bulk of the song ("out of my brain on the train!") the band ratchets it down for the quiet finale ("Why should I care?"). During this outro, Keith Moon creates a groove that's calm yet still impatiently simmering, as if he can't quite rein in what has already been let loose.

One of my favorite moments from that fabulous album.

Mick Fleetwood has been quite the creative drummer with a solid groove. I've always liked his use of toms for some thickness and utilizing flams.

Come to think of it, I suppose a simple yet quite effective use of flams was by Bruce Gary of "The Knack" on "My Sharona." (it worked for the tune)

Keith Moon's sporadic yet powerful groove on "Love, Reign o'er Me" is a fav of mine.

It's a travesty this hasn't been mentioned yet.

I remember my high school swim coach suggested we do our swim reps with a song in our head. This is the one I had on repeat in my head.

    Heh. Excellent.

It's too easy to gravitate to that bass line but the drum groove is the glue holding it all together.

For a few years he did this beat in every song but why not? Kinda like being punched repeatedly in the face. Hamilton Bohannon...

Of course. The band called it a drum solo masquerading as a pop song in the Anthology liner notes. Good one!

My best friend in high school absolutely demolished his kit on this song. I believe Jeff Porcaro was mentioned earlier in the thread but this IMHO has to be his best. Love that frikkin high-hat.

Hold the Line: Not only the high hat - Jeff's kick drum was so tight on the beat it was nearly supernatural (since it wasn't quantized).
