So many grooves hit home for so many reasons:

    Rosanna Toto
... probably should be the de facto Wiki on shuffle grooves.. Jeff Porcaro was one of the amazing four out of Berkeley School of Music and is missed!

    Aqualung Jethro Tull
... the signature pelting of the skins in the verses and the pick ups.. pure feel... especially that God-sent drum ending! (still trying to replicate it)

    50 Ways Paul Simon.
.. Steve Gadd hits me as the drummer's drummer... he incorporates traditional style and rudiments into incredibly deep grooves. I saw him fill in for Return to Forever one year and I was in awe... no wonder they refer to him as "Steve Gawd"

    Kashmir Led Zeppelin
... This is clearly trance before there ever was trance.. the hypnotizing drum groove sets the pace all the way through the tune and is simply mesmerizing.. one of deepest grooves for rock, I've heard.. John Bonham was a pace setter to influence so many great drummers.

In my 45 years of drumming, playing many styles and varieties, I truly cannot pick out one favorite drummer.. there are so many.. and its when one hits a groove or a fill that quenches his own soul expression. visit me at John Campos on Drums

Still amazes me how the drum grooves changing from each verse gives all the feel, coolness and greatness to the song!

I could list a whole bunch of Santana songs.

But I am going to say Here She Comes Now (VU). How did Mo do that? I have always been fascinated by that sound.

The groove Neil Peart played on Tom Sawyer, IMO - was one reason the song was a monster hit.

The pan-cultural entity that calls itself "AOMusic" unleashed this dizzy bliss on the New Age world in 2011. Go ahead and try to identify all the percussion parts:

I was just listening to Hurdy Gurdy Man and was reminded once again how riveting the drumming is.

The feel is nice n' loose...until the fills start -- then, really pushing the performance. Amazing. A mix of fills from Grand funk American Band to the Who Bargain.

No doubt. Simon Phillips is another (ill appreciated) groove master.

Jeff Porcaro, Bernard Purdie and Steve Gadd hit the spot every time!

RE: Tony Thompson (Some Like It Hot) the track was so processed I thought it was a drum machine. I'll have to re-visit the song...
