Great timimg with this thread Rick!

Just this evening my wife and (nearly) 3 year old daughter picked me up from work and on the way home "Fat Bottom Girls" came on the radio and I just had to crank it up LOUD. It really hit the spot and both me and my wife were really re-invigorated after that (it's been a tough week - I have a load of work on and she's nearly 8 months pregnant  ).

I'm not sure what my daughter thought - she likes loud music in the car but she's more into the Monkees and The Beach Boys at the moment.......

    :D

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

The Hugh Masakela instrumental version was the original, a top ten single on UNI Records, and came out in the summer of 1968.

The Friends of Distinction vocal version came out ONE YEAR LATER in 1969.

You have certainly heard it! It's a mid-tempo, had a prominent piano and jazz guitar, and is very trumpet driven, has a jazzy feel, and had a cowbell throughout the tune. The tune starts out with a cowbell.

The Kings "This Beat Goes On/Switchin To Glide'. Automatic volume adjustment required.
REM "What's The Frequency, Kenneth". The only REM song I really like. Great opening power chords gets a turn upto 11 from me every time.

Sorry, but that song gets played to death over here in Toronto. If I die never hearing it again, I'll have a smile on my face!

    Rockaway Beach - The Ramones.

I've lately seen the light and having been buying up Ramones albums. Driving home after having just picked up the Rocket to Russia CD I just had to turn the volume up to eleven. It was a warm summery fall day (rare in Toronto except for this year it seems), the windows were down, the sunroof was wide open and it was PERFECT!

Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog". Loved the cow bell beginning. Not a favorite anymore, but cool in my high school days.

    YES!! A masterpiece.

"Enter Sandman" gets the volume cranked immediately in my car. That intro is so intense.

Not the car radio, but the car STEREO...

I have definite memories of being back in High School, in the back seat of a buddie's '73 Cutlass completely baked out of my mind and hearing Brian Johnson scream of "FIRE!" echoing over and over toward the end of AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock." And the cannons! "Whoa dude!"

Same with "Inject The Venom" from the same album...on cassette!

I don't think I've ever heard it sound better... :righton:

The DJ on Q107 here hates it so much that one time they played it and he said "ONE MORE TIME" right after it finished.
