No ARC on your pre? If it has ARC, you can just go hdmi out from input 3 and use the internal apps- no need for a streamer.
That is correct, no ARC on my pre. (No HDMI of any kind on my pre; just 2 channel analog ins and outs. To further clarify - if I go optical out of Bluenote, it will be to a 2 channel DAC then to pre.)
too late to edit previous . . . I’m thinking about what I wrote and that it might not make any sense. I need this TV to be another audio source that terminates at my preamp as a two channel analog signal. If I am watching the Disney+ App, will that audio out signal ‘travel’ out through HDMI port 3? (so ideally it would go TV source streaming app ---> HDMI port 3 ---> Bluesound Node streamer ---> analog ins of 2 channel preamp) I guess I'm confused if it's an either/or choice between Streaming app or HDMI port 3.
Yeah, coulda sholda woulda. As I said, poor planning on my part. Ideally, that would involve the contractor opening the wall again which is not really an option at this point. I think I may also have an issue with the maximum length of Optical Digital Audio cables (??) I'm going to mess around with options today.
Did the contractor leave an option to pull other cables in the future? I left a single strand of speaker wire hanging so more cables can be pulled through my wall. I've pulled additional cables a few times. Each time I attach another wire so there's always a wire there for any future cable pulls. I would think that there are convertor box options available to convert HDMI to optical or vice versa.
No, it's a pretty tight tolerance of the holes in the studs for the 3 HDMI cables. Know because I tried to zip tie a longer cable to one and do a 'pull-through'. It got bunched up between the two studs and the contractor re-opened the wall once already. (which is why a second time is not an option) I'll see how using the eARC/ARC port into a convertor box works. If thats a no-go, I'll live with the optical digital audio cable 'showing' connecting the TV to the two channel system for special viewings as I have a feeling my wife will be fine with TV sound for most of her watching. Thanks all and sorry for the diversion.
eARC port+converter box should work fine. Just make sure you’re connected to the proper HDMI port as TVs usually only have a single one that supports eARC.
Have any of you guys seen the $1 Samsung TV's that are being advertised on FB? There's tons of comments all saying Best Buy and Costco are having this sale and they're the best, blah, blah, blah. I went thru the motions but held up when it came time to put in my credit card, the pessimist in me wouldn't let me! I'm just wondering has anybody else seen this sale? Has anybody picked one up?
Sorry for being super dense on this but here I am . . . I am in the process of setting up my two channel system and am having difficulty wrapping my head around this. Preamp, mono blocks and speakers are properly set up. My Oppo blu-ray feeds the TV via HDMI and my stereo via left and right analog outs. So optical discs play like I want them to. I tried playing one of the streaming services and that played on the television as one would would expect. I have an HDMI cable plugged into port 3 (eARC/ARC) of the TV and into a $15 HDMI convertor box (before I drop $600 on the Bluesound Node streamer). I then have that feeding into one of my preamp inputs and I get no sound. Do I need to 'turn on' an output in my TV setting? I would presume if the average joe has a Smart TV like this and a surround receiver, he would expect his streaming services audio would feed into his surround receiver via HDMI and out to his surround sound speakers, right? Again, I apologize for being the dumb-dumb here, I am sure I am missing something simple here.
It might be worth it and easier to use the optical digital out and a cheap converter if the ARC connection is giving you trouble. EDIT: I found your manual online. It looks like you do have to go into your TV's settings. Check your manual (which really should have been your first course of action...)
I know, I know (that's the part I hate). I just tried going out through the optical into an older Bel Canto DAC and also silence, so I need to go into settings of the TV.
You need to go into the settings and select external audio system. The default is tv speakers. There's also a setting for output- auto 1, auto 2 and a couple others. You may need to play around with these. I use auto 1 for optical output into a 7.1 avr (arc and e-arc are fraught with problems due to lack of standards).
The 77 was actually cheaper through 5/5 at $2799 with a $500 gift card. But $2599 is still a killer price- though I wouldn't be surprised if they sold out soon. I thought long and hard about returning my 65 for a 77- I'd have done it for sure with either of those deals.
It looks as though the new 2022 A80Ks are just a rehash of the 2021 A80J model, with even a couple of disappointing changes; a bit more ABL (Auto Brightness Limiter) and a change in the clearness setting; now only on or off. If you were fortunate enough to purchase a 2021 model with the EVO panel, you aren't missing a thing and might be even ahead of the game.
As do the Sony A90J series, the 77 A80J and some of the 55 and 65 A80Js. Same panel, though they're not EVO panels since that's an LG marketing term.
I've been thinking about buying this TV. Has anyone who bought it encountered issues with the Onboard WIFI?
