Sony MXD-D40 MiniDisc deck

Yea, cassettes were never my favorite. AND, i had to deal with a co worker that swore that metal cassettes made on his Pioneer deck were better than 15 ips Reel to Reel. BBLLLEEECCCHHH....

 

How 'bout this one? A fellow I once worked with claimed "A metal cassette recorded with Dolby C is indistinguishable from a CD".

The general buying public doesn't really care about sound quality to the level we are. In fact, the accountant at my place of employment believes the early CD era hype that CDs have better sound than any LP and we know that's not always true.

>>>>Yes!!! Many times. I worked for a small record company and I was in charge of manufacturing. I auditioned all the major brands of cassettes for our budget line. No cassette dups I ever heard sounded as good as the CD source. Every single one sounded, at the very least "constricted". Also wow and flutter was noticible even on the best tapes.There is only so much head room on a 1/8 inch Cassette tape. Hard to get around that.

If you didnt have the Cd to compare to it wasnt SO bad, after that, well, yes it was.
