Hmmmm. I only had to make one change from yours to arrive at my list! Screaming Life/FOPP - Nothing to Say Ultramega OK - Flower Louder Than Love - Hands All Over* Badmotorfinger - Jesus Christ Pose Superunknown - Fresh Tendrils Down on the Upside - Overfloater *though often ‘Loud Love’ instead Yeah, I absolutely love Overfloater. A top 5 song of theirs, I’d imagine. Fresh Tendrils is such a cool track, too! I finally saw them play it at my last show in 2013, which made my decade. Definitely a favorite off Superunknown although there are so many other serious contenders it changes frequently.
Yeah, there's always good options for other favorites on any album. For instance, I love "Far Beyond the Wheel" on Ultramega. As you say, Superunknown has many great tunes (I really have always liked "Head Down" very, very much). Louder Than Love has, of course, "Loud Love", but I've always really liked "I Awake", too. "Big Dumb Sex" while stupid, has a great riff to it. Such a great band!
Head Down is otherworldly. Such a unique track. The psychedelic drum pile up at the very end, so many other cool moments in there.
I've always had an unreasonable amount of love for "Gun." It's just so unhinged. Great to see "Fresh Tendrils" getting love too. Though I'm thinking "Like Suicide" might be my favorite from Superunknown these days.
Screaming Life/FOPP - Nothing to Say Ultramega OK - Flower Louder Than Love - Loud Love Badmotorfinger - Slaves and Bulldozers Superunknown - Day I Tried To Live Down on the Upside - Rhinosaur
I can't say - I only ever heard Hunger Strike. I would probably like it OK. I like Chris' songs on the Singles soundtrack.
King Animal is also excellent, I highly recommend anyone that grew up with Soundgarden to give it a good couple of listens to really get a feel for it (like any album)...
I will say this album took me several listens but grew on me pretty quick. The first (3) songs are actually my least favourite (somewhat unusual), but find it quickly gets better from there. It's a different vibe (but not surprising) 16 years after Down on the Upside. Also the vinyl issue is a beauty- big thick gatefold with soft textured(?) matte finish, it's nice quality package that puts most other modern Lps to shame.
the news of Chris still haunts me and can remember reading it and NOT believing. It just didnt add up. He had everything going for him. I truly have a hard time accepting. His spirit lives within me
When Love came out I loved it. I thought these guys get it. Just Sabbath to me. But their own way. The heavy without the bs of the era.
Took me absolutely years to warm to Louder Than Love, in large part because Ugly Truth is IMO a really uninspired opener. Just kinda plods along, especially in comparison to Hands All Over. Love the album now though.
Does anyone know if the Louder Than Love on HDTracks is remastered? I know they remastered it for vinyl, but I can't tell from the release page if this is that source or the original CD.
