No problem. As an avid reader of Playboy in the mid-1970s, that particular factoid stuck out as wrong, because I could remember seeing photos of the Mansion in many an issue.
Thanks, it was a blast. Is it over? That’s always up to the readers. As for me - if I see something new on the Soundtrack, I’ll post it , as I’ve done previously on this thread. Otherwise; I loved posting my playlist of Extended Soundtrack. If others add their own songs that I don’t have, that would be interesting and fun. If the article that says an extended version of the movie will eventually make it to subscription TV is true - well this would be a good place to comment and inform on that. Thanks!
As of today, it's holding strong on Amazon (US), after a slight dip last week when it dropped to #2 in Soundtracks: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #17 in CDs & Vinyl (See Top 100 in CDs & Vinyl) #2 in Pop (CDs & Vinyl) #1 in Movie Soundtracks (CDs & Vinyl)
Didn't the Manson crew kill Sharon Tate? Do these writers do their fact checking? I don't think Brad Pitt or Di Capprio were old enough to be there? Do these writers do their fact checking? It's not like it's a fictional revenge picture where Manson looses.... Do these writers do their fact checking?
I ordered the vinyl — first new purchase of a record in ages. I want the posters and hope to someday set up a turntable again. This soundtrack will be a great one to spin. I’m already enjoying the CD.
I've done a thread search, found nothing to answer my question. For anyone who got the limited edition vinyl, what are the initials in the deadwax please ? I'm figuring we'll get the same cut on the standard release, when it comes out. Thanks.
I saw this today and heard the little bit of Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show in it. I'd bought a mono 45 of it a while back and played it once or twice but never listened closely or played it up loud. So when I got home, I put it on and turned it up. It's got tape hiss, 60 Hz hum, a kick in the pants in the 8-12 KHz area (the styrene pressings must have worn out quick!)...and geez it's glorious. I never noticed how hard the kick drum hits in the verse between lines. And is that chorusing on the background ooooooohhhsss and aaaaahhhhs? Fantastic stuff. Anyone who was there at the time...how did it sound pouring out of your AM radio?
Good enough to make me buy a copy in 1969, which I still have : Neil Diamond - Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show / A Modern Day Version Of Love
Fantastic stuff. Anyone who was there at the time...how did it sound pouring out of your AM radio?[/QUOTE] Sounded Fantastic, It set a definite mood - even in real time without a movie script. In the “60’s” - there was a movement everyday and a maniacal “wanna be” to lead it. Some came to fruition - for better or (in the case of “Charlie” in the movie - much worse!
Finally caught the film yesterday. Loved it. The music is a phenomenal part of it. Anyone else thought "Mrs Robinson" could've probably been left off? Seems overused these days and too associated with the The Graduate but maybe I'm being overly critical.
Here’s my promised “Extended” version: Medicine Man - Buchanan Brothers I Got A Line On You - Spirit Indian Giver - 1910 Fruitgum Co. Mony Mony - Tommy James & Shondells Never Learn Not To Love - Beach Boys Light My Fire - Jose Feliciano Cinderella Sunshine - Paul Revere & Raiders Shotgun - Vanilla Fudge It’s Getting Better - Mama Cass She - Monkees Soul Deep - Box Tops Yes I Will - The Association Somebody Groovy - Mamas & Papas Everyday People - Sly & Family Stone The Great Airplane Strike - Paul Revere & Raiders Hooked On A Feeling - B.J. Thomas See - Rascals Hang ‘Em High - Booker T & MGs Gimme Gimme Good Lovin - Crazy Elephant I’d Wait A Million Years - Grass Roots Do Something To Me - Tommy James & Shondells Games People Play - Joe South I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight - Boyce & Hart Too Much Talk - Paul Revere & Raiders The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - Hugh Montenegro
Somewhat of a random thought, but between the two 1969 timeframes of the movie, Neil Young & Crazy Horse's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere was released and it could have made the soundtrack. My vote would be for "The Losing End." for mood, or "Cinnamon Girl" for AM radio vibe.
Here’s my mix of OUATIH songs (or variations of) that did not appear on the OST: THE KILLING (TORN CURTAIN) - BERNARD HERRMAN DON’T FENCE ME IN - ROY ROGERS THE LETTER - DEL SHANNON (cool version btw) SUMMERTIME - BILLY STEWART THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT - ARETHA HAPPENING ‘68 - PAUL REVERE & RAIDERS MCARTHUR PARK - RICHARD HARRIS (had to use the original) TIME FOR LIVIN’ - THE ASSOCIATION IN MY LIFE - JOSÉ FELICIANO SOUL SERENADE - WILLIE MITCHELL I CAN’T TURN YOU LOOSE - OTIS REDDING STRAIGHT SHOOTER - MAMAS & PAPAS OUT OF TIME - ROLLING STONES TWELVE THIRTY ( YOUNG GIRLS..... CANYON) - MAMAS & PAPAS BATMAN THEME - NEIL HEFTI Feel to free to critique/add comments.

Tarantino's Kill Bill soundtrack has a number of songs that could have just as easily fit on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Brad Pitt says Quentin Tarantino is considering Once Upon a Time in Hollywood TV series Brad Pitt says Quentin Tarantino is considering Once Upon a Time in Hollywood TV series
My only problem with the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" soundtrack is that most of the songs are supposedly what's being heard on KHJ radio on the three days that the movie takes place. But since KHJ was a Top 40 AM station, most of these songs would not have been heard on those days. You can find what the station was actually playing around that time by reviewing the survey lists: KHJ Survey Index
